Songs of the Week 🎶 Updates #27 and #28

Comments

Hey Maria, thanks for the comment! I won't reply to ever part but rest assured I've read it all 😊 On the Vitas clip - that's exactly what I refer to in my video (and I realise I haven't released it yet so this makes no sense 😅) Another member also went off to explore more Abel! I don't know much of Abel, so like I said to them: if you find anything nice, let me know! I'm sure I'll be exploring his works more in the future Thanks for the clip! Funnily enough I was listening to some Jaroussky on Spotify and when the clip started, it was in the same tempo and key 😂 Got me very confused. I also like how guitar seems to be called violão in Portuguese? I received a lot of comments with the term on my Yamandu videos I'm also not sure about the words in '97' 😂 But have never questioned it cos it's a vibe

I get so excited every time I receive an update of this list with your songs of the week; thank you very much for this, Sir!🙏 Experiencing new songs/artists is something that feeds my mind with the type of food that usually activates a facet of my hyperactivity that makes me want to endlessly talk about/share music🎶So… today I have the feeling that I’m starting to write a comment that might get a little too long if the Patreon page allows enough space for manifestation of verbose…😅 - Starting with ‘Our house’: aww, I can’t even tell how many times I’ve already listened to this song since the moment I discovered it during your reaction – it’s so lovely! I really enjoy when (good) filthy dissonance is embraced in songs and your analysis helped me to appreciate it even more😊; - I never heard much about ‘The kinks’ and I enjoyed this song a lot: could we say this is some kind of proto punk(ish) sound? Whatever is the classification of this type of rock they did here, I liked it very much and got curious to discover more from them (yesterday I was crazy-dancing to this song while vacuuming: it “really got me going” 😂); - It was very nice to see Philippe Jaroussky back to your list of songs with this mesmerizing performance! I was blown away by the previous video you included on the list some time ago, with a much younger version of him interpreting a piece by Vivaldi; wow… he continues amazing👌; - Vitas performing Opera #2 is always very impressive and the inclusion of this song in your update made me wonder if your reaction to Dimash’s rendition might be waving on the horizon (just saw your reply to a previous comment and !yay! got very excited with the answer🙌). I have to admit that I always associate Vitas’ presence to something slightly funny since the moment I watched the video that resurfaced and went viral some time ago with his performance of the song ‘The 7th element’ to celebrate New Year's Eve during a TV show in Russia (if you’ve never seen it, you should check it when you want to have some fun because that might be one of the most bizarre – in a positive way – non-comedy videos I’ve watched so far and his ‘choreography’ is a must! Once you see it you can't unsee it 😄Here is the link if you get curious to watch it during your spare time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=989-7xsRLR4); - I really enjoyed how well Andy Williams’ sweet song seems to portrait a romantic/almost innocent environment surrounding flirtation during the 60’s… The general scenario created by this song brought to my mind the contrasting environment depicted in the song ‘Dance Anthem of the 80's’ by the wonderful Regina Spektor, where she approaches the topic of flirtation during the ‘wild’ 80’s through her typical usage of playful/almost innocent metaphors that conceal some much deeper (and sometimes even darker) meanings. If you don’t know this song, I’ll leave the following link for you to enjoy Regina’s adorable existence during your free time (yes, I love this beautiful singer/songwriter/pianist❣): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-okd1I1V3q8 - The piece for Viola da Gamba is wonderful!✨I love the richness of sounds produced by this majestic instrument and the composition by Carl Friedrich Abel evokes a dream-like experience that leaves us wishing it could be longer… I feel I need to listen more from this source! Since you always say that you enjoy learning about variations and historical facts on string instruments (such as guitars, violas, etc), I’ll leave for you to enjoy by yourself a sample of a nice Brazilian project called ‘Concerto pra vaca e boi’ (= ‘Concert for cow and ox’) created by Roberto Corrêa (player & researcher on Brazilian violas), where he composed some pieces of music using the contrasting combination of six Brazilian violas (traditionally used to create popular music in the countryside) and the Viola da Gamba (traditionally associated to the fancy Portuguese court when transferred to Brazil). The composition is called ‘Boi Martelo’ (= ‘Hammer ox’) and features Gustavo Freccia playing Viola da Gamba and Roberto Corrêa playing Viola Repentista (typical from the Northeast part of Brazil): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9kwfongDKM🎶And in case you want to see how the six Brazilian violas used in this project look like/their characteristic sounds, I’ll leave the following video where Roberto briefly presents them (unfortunately there is no English subtitles available and the auto-translation doesn’t make sense): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cwUXt_oKbM [but if you’re still curious to at least see how the instruments are/sound, I’ll leave the respective timestamps where each viola is shown in the video: Viola Caipira (2:32), Viola Repentista (3:26), Viola de Buriti (4:28), Viola Caiçara (5:20), Viola Machete Baiana (6:19) and Viola Cocho (7:20)]; - And to wrap up the list of this week we got some nice “flower/flour (??)-mustard-chemical-mustard-chemical” thing in the song ‘97’: still not sure about the puzzling random words and the car images in the video but I kind of like a lot the super cool and unique soundscape🤟Instead of driving a car, I listened to it while piloting a vacuum cleaner and I arrived to the conclusion that ‘97’ is the type of song that allows you to feel mighty-cool irrespective of the machine you pilot😎It’s real, I’ll need to search for more songs by the Swedish Stay Ali as well; thanks again for all the great music, Sir!🙏😊🙏

Haha! Maybe Anneliese Braun lives in Mittelhofer Street 😂

Sir Hairless

It´s so hard to read "our house" without thinking "in the middle of our street" 🙃 especially because it is a so called " Anneliese Braun" song. In the German language there are songs called Anneliese Braun songs, because someone missheard " all the leaves are brown" as the name Anneliese Braun, so every song or part of a song that is missheard (mostly because the person hearing it is not familiar with the english language) is called an Anneliese Braun song. In Our house somone hear in the Mittelhofer street - which would be a street name instead of the middle of the street.
