Behind the Scenes: Compass Rose gets a Win.

Just a quick look at 3D printing and how we finally worked out the bugs to start production. It's a whole new world for me, and I hope you enjoy getting a look.

Behind the Scenes: Compass Rose gets a Win.

Woot!

Bradley Barth

Maybe it is my vise it is 21 and 3/4 inches long it is not a moxon vise. The right handed version over hangs on the out side of the bench when using it.

Dan Delie

You could, but the part that rests on the bench would hang over the front of the vise.

Chris St. Cyr

Congrats with this win. Better start printing now, or you won't be ready for Christmas...

Frans van Ballegooijen

What's the difference? I think you can just flip it the other way. Or am I missing something here?

Frans van Ballegooijen

Hay Rex looks 😍. Will you be able to make a left-handed version????

Dan Delie

Fair point... I have no idea what their rates are. I imagine their target market is people who want to "set it and forget it" and just let the print-on-demand stuff handle itself.

Alan Berman

Looks like a project I'd rather have plans for to make my own from wood. I dont support your channel to buy stuff, I want to make it

David Niebergall

Congrats on honing your prints! Sounds like a lot of sweat went into it. Here's to hoping it'll be a hit for compass rose tools!

Borjan Tchakaloff

Ugh. Brutal.

Sean McGown

Thank you!

Rex Krueger

You can say that again! This has been a trial.

Rex Krueger

You're very kind. The hard part was dumpstering a 3kg spool of off brand PETG when we realized that it wouldn't print, no matter what. Money in the trash!

Rex Krueger

Every time we get a quote, the price is too high for us to hit our retail price targets. Besides, once we own the farm, we can make all kinds of stuff.

Rex Krueger

It's a real shock when you're new to it (I am.) I never would have gotten into this without Lucas and his expertise.

Rex Krueger

Yeah, we just couldn't swallow the cost of the mold. This makes much more sense.

Rex Krueger

That's a hilarious gift!

Rex Krueger

That's so nice to hear! Thank you!

Rex Krueger

We're looking forward to bringing you more!

Rex Krueger

Bambu is a game-changer. It does this print in a QUARTER the time of previous generation printers. PETG is a real challenge. It's hydroscopic and needs drying a careful handling, but once Lucas got it dialed in, the finished product is impact resistant, stiff and resistant to most solvents. It's sturdy!

Rex Krueger

Me too! Producing this ourselves has been difficult.

Rex Krueger

Thank you!

Rex Krueger

Thanks for watching!

Rex Krueger

It's going to look a lot like it does now....but more machines!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!

Rex Krueger

Glad you think so!

Rex Krueger

Nice, that's very cool.

Dave West

That's awesome, Rex.

Jennessa Lynam

Way cool, Rex and crew. Can't wait to see the "manufacturing facility" when you have it set up. Have a wonderful week.

Matt Evans-Koch

Love! And Thanks for sharing!

Jon Linna

Congrats, Rex!!

Russell Gough

I’m excited to hear your back up and running

Wayne Miller

The color contrast is amazing! Bambu is really ahead of all other printers it's quite amazing. How's the PETG holding? I'm guessing you've been dogfooding it for a while now.

LiraNuna

Super! Happy to see your success and look forward to more in the future!

Gerald Eddy

I am so enjoying this topic! It’s fun and educational: everything YouTube should be. Thank you.

Dean Wight

I’m glad the you achieved an economical cycle time. My son printed twenty T Rex heads as wedding gifts and each took over a day to print plus cleanup time. But they were a hit with the guests.

Richard C von Brecht

The Bambu P1S printer is a beast! I have the original Bambu X1 and it is an amazing machine. Prints certainly can take a while, but they can be printed "on demand" without needing to do larger runs of injection molds.

Kyle B. Johnson

It's good to get these behind the scenes looks at print-on-demand production. As someone with little to no experience, I had no idea how long it takes. 4 hours per unit!

John Laudun

Looks amazing! Have you considered a print farm like Slant 3D? They might save you from having to run your own print farm.

Alan Berman

Great work! I imagine that the patience required is double that of the technical expertise required to do all the experimentation. Your persistence in the face of all these fronts you've opened combined with the non-channel challenges is impressive.

Sean McGown

Congratulations!! Development is always difficult, but it looks great!

Marco P. Lascari

Awesome!
