Lain is great! I've watched it many years ago so I don't really remember much, but I've rewatched a couple of episodes recently and it seems to hold up well. It still has that weird, cryptic atmosphere and very unique direction. There's a blue-ray version with improved visuals nowadays.

Sort of! I've done it in a variety of ways, sometimes motion graphics, 3D and I've done 2D animation projects. I'm not close to the level of japanese animators, working on anime is an actual living hell. I'm sympathetic to the struggles they go through and have experienced maybe a tenth of the work that goes into full anime production. But the anime I recommended gives a great overview of everything that goes into animation or really producing anything as a team.

Hey Zen, there's a new anime series called Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! That is about three high school girls who create anime together.
I've been through the hardships and challenges of animating in a team, and the show is incredibly accurate to the experiences and mindset of artists and what goes into anime production. It's incredibly inspiring to all the artists that I know. If you are interested in seeing into the mind of the people who produce anime and seeing what they struggle with and are inspired by, I highly recommend it.
