This is 100% without a doubt the pinnacle of Clannad as a series, in my opinion. Been looking forward to rewatching this episode for a long time. Glad you finally got to it and that you enjoyed it.

Matter

Few episodes in anime never fail to make me emotional and this is one of them. The most impressive thing about this episode is it always hits despite Clannad not being in my top favorites. All other similar episodes are from Gintama, Sangatsu no lion or Assassination classroom (all 3 in my top 10 and I highly recommend checking out Sangatsu no lion and Assassination classroom). This episode is just incredible!

3rd time watching this and man... IT NEVER FAILS TO MAKE ME CRY! lol. But wow what an incredible episode, easily top 3 in the series.

Not only in my opinion is this peak clannad this is the pinnacle of story telling definitely in my top 3 anime episodes of all time. Tomoya coming to the realization that his father isn’t that bad of a person and had to make so many sacrifices, really hit home. Great reaction this journey is almost over but not finished yet looking forward to next week!

It's finally here! Been looking forward to this one the whole time...the emotions are just overwhelming. I can't ever not cry when watching that scene. Just too much going on, him finally being able to properly grieve over Nagisa, embracing Ushio as his daughter and changing his perspective about his father. And repairing his relationship with his father was the one thing Nagisa was always trying to get him to try harder for. Also, now that both Ushio's appearance and the location in this episode have been shown, it's worth explicitly pointing out that Ushio running through that field of yellow flowers is very clearly in the OP of the first season :)
