Getting a final boss battle already in episode 3/24 perfectly describes the pacing of this show, giving us something on this scale just to finish the initial setup of the plot. There is an even larger message with the stuff you mentioned, but that should be discussed way later really. Surprisingly this show tends to explain the insanity pretty well, as much as it may seem nonsensical damn near everything in this show has a reason for being like it is.
