I believe Renee did mention in the commentary for the episode that the Genia character reminded her of the Deianeira character, although I would say Deianeira was a little more spunky than this kid.

2025-09-08 01:53:19 +0000 UTCIf Gabrielle had been the one dressed as a man, I would have made a "GabDrag" joke. I think it's true that they did some of their "greatest hits" here, as the show was winding down, like the new ladder fight, and the "dress up in silly disguises" routine. I'm a little uncomfortable with their pressing on an unidentified monotheistic religion. The scene with the near virgin sacrifice was reminiscent of the second movie, Hercules and The Lost Kingdom, which introduced us to Renee O'Connor. (Not as Gabby. Of course, Lucy Lawless, not as Xena, was in the first.) It's odd that Hermes doesn't have his helmet. We didn't see him get killed. Also, Hermes has flying shoes, so it's a little unexpected that he'd have a flying helmet as well. And we even got Aphrodite.

2025-09-08 00:23:00 +0000 UTCMelissa Good (the fanfiction writer that was brought in on staff to write the episodes ‘Coming Home’ and ‘Legacy’ had a 3rd episode written with Rob Tapert but it got cut out and we got ‘Many Happy Returns’ instead. It was the famous Sappho musical which you can read the script for online. And yeah… when you read it, you’ll understand why it was cut. For just one example: there’s a scene where they put Xena in a dog collar led by a leash held by Gabrielle. I think it might have been a little much.
