In good company
Added 2021-12-09 06:53:56 +0000 UTCWhen I opened my first gallery exhibition over ten years ago, the first image I sold was the main image of the figure covered in mesh, at the top of this post. It was bought by a friend who has it in his apartment hanging right next to a print by my photography idol, James Houston. It happens that my friend is also good friends with James Houston, but it is incredibly flattering to know my work is hanging next to James' work.
Today I was chatting to a friend and they also have a copy of the image above from my exhibition. They are in the process of framing some artwork and they are going to hang my piece next to some prints of Herb Ritts and Bruce Weber photos. Again, two of my photography idols.
When my friend told me my work was going to be hung next to those masters I found myself getting a bit emotional. Obviously the three photographers mentioned have been huge influences on my work and possibly even impacted the kind of men I'm attracted to having been my introduction to male nude photography.
I've included some of my favourite images from these incredible photographers with this post, because I just adore their work and will always be inspired by them.
