Broadening Horizons
Added 2022-07-22 01:21:16 +0000 UTCEvery single time I do an Instagram story asking for questions, I get asked why I don't shoot "regular" guys, or do I ever shoot overweight guys. Typically I've said that my models ARE regular guys and said not really to overweight guys. Chatting to a friend last night, I started to question why that was.
I'm not promising a radical shift in what I photograph but the call is going to go out for a wider range of guys. It's a challenge to myself and to my audience.
For me it's a challenge to make art outside of the scope of guys I would normally gravitate towards photographing and I believe I can do these guys justice. It's also a challenge to my audience to put their money where their mouth is. Are those people asking why I don't shoot different guys going to support the downloads when they are released if the guy is outside the narrow definition of hot the gay world seems to allow?
Stocky guys, hairy guys, older guys, transmen, heavily tattooed guys, people with scars or missing limbs and every one the casting call is going out.
