There are definite benefits that come with having working at this craft of photography for a while now. I'm FINALLY getting the confidence to shoot my shot with potential models that I wouldn't have dared approach in the past.
I've been following Mitch for a while now on Instagram and recently he started following me back and liked a few photos. So I decided to take the plunge and shoot him a message. He's a professional model so I just said "I love your look and would love to work with you but I see you're a professional model and I can't afford you." You can imagine my surprise when he said he'd love to do a shoot anyway.
We got together for a coffee last weekend and discussed ideas and this weekend we are getting into the studio to do a bunch of shots. If everything goes to plan I should have two shots of Mitch for my exhibition later in the year. When you get a model like Mitch in front of your camera, you better be prepared so I have tested the ideas and feel ready to go.
The thing about some people that rely on their looks to make their living is that there is a chance that it can come with a lot of attitude. There wasn't a trace of pretension with Mitch. He was absolutely adorable and really keen to dip into the creative space.
It's going to be so much fun! Stay tuned.
