Continuing my exploration of the archives and telling the story of shoots that will never become downloads, this is the story of Chris.
This shoot was back in 2011, immediately after my first exhibition. While that exhibition explored all of my insecurities, by the time it was in the gallery I had begun seeing someone and was feeling a lot more positive so started exploring ideas that would, two years later become my Freedom exhibition.
The path to "Freedom" wasn't a linear one. For a while I thought I wanted to explore a series all around and in water. To be honest it's still an idea that I love but still don't know completely how I would do that.
Chris had been in my Shrouded series, posing alongside a good mate of his, also known as Chris. Most of my shoots are fairly static with the model posing in a stationary position. On this shoot, I had visions of Chris splashing etc and that requires more technical preparation than I apparently did. These shots didn't thrill me and at the time I wasn't pushy enough to ask Chris to keep doing things over and over.
These days I would prepare the camera settings better and I'd also be more direct with the model and articulate more clearly what I'm trying to achieve. Maybe one day.
