2024-09-29 23:33:06 +0000 UTCThank you! I have now watched this video twice, pondering your comments about the tone. I also recognized this on a subconscious level, but hadn’t put words to it. I think the sad undertone of this episode comes from the fact that the first seven episodes of this season had been focused on Nick’s coming out, whilst hinting to a lot of other storylines to come, and the start of this episode ‘finishes’ Nick’s journey (with a beautiful instagram post). This then implies that all those other storylines are going to take centre stage, and we viscerally recognize that most of them are going to a much darker place. Even the small resolutions we get (Isaac finding, and devouring, the book, Tara and Darcy’s chat, Elle and Tao on the dance floor) imply that there is much more to be explored and more to overcome. The fact that Alice and the team can use such beautiful music and visuals, have the group experience so much happiness at prom and the after-prom, and still hint at and cultivate this sense of sadness is beautiful and heartbreaking. We are not ready for Season Three.

2024-09-29 23:22:57 +0000 UTCI saw a post on Reddit (and I know, Reddit) comparing Heartstopper to Young Royals and seeing that Heartstopper is inferior because it doesn’t have the same emotional heft as YR. To me, anyone who looks at that last 10 minutes of this episode and says that this show doesn’t have emotional heft, hasn’t understood this show. Everything from the writing to the direction to the acting is profound and meaningful. If the scene between Charlie and Nick in Nick’s bedroom, doesn’t have emotional heft, then nothing does. The scene between Nick and Tao may be my favorite in this season, too. The arc of their relationship to each other is beautiful to watch, and again they both act it wonderfully. I think Tao grows so much as a character from the beginning of the first season to the end of this season, and it makes me really look forward to where his character goes from here, particularly in his relationships to the other characters.

Those songs are too much 😭 I'm so emotional too and I'm crying all along with you and I gonna cry for sure in 4 days. But not ashamed at all 🤭 I love this show so so much, this has given me some hints about my life even being in late fourties. And I was one of my best days ever I founded you on Youtube. So gratefull for all that ❤️❤️❤️ I read the Isaak Ace book the halfway though, it's kinda difficult and sometimes heavy research-kind. But gives some more nice hints 🤗❤️

Then Alice revealed the title of the first episode of season 3, which makes it much more worse!! And now we are here, just 3,5 days till season 3🤯 It is crazy wonderful 💓💛🩷💙💚🤎

2024-09-29 19:25:07 +0000 UTCI agree with Jackie. I don't know how anyone can not appreciate Heart stopper. Whether it is "your thing" or not, it is such an important body of work. Some of us just don't seem to appreciate the loveliness of life alongside the hardships. And we seem to live in a world where it is not enough for some people to just say "I didn't like it" they have to trash things. So sad. Ultimately I find Heart stopper shows what love truly is past the initial infatuation and shows us how important it is to confront our difficulties. I love the show. And I am in my fifties. I feel about Heartstopper like I felt about waiting for the latest Jane Austen adaptations back in the 1980s when Heartstopper would never have been made.

Especially that specific scene where “seven” is played, gets me every time… just seeing them being happy, having fun, being in love. And knowing that most of that scene was improvised and the fact that they are all very close friends in real life as well makes it even more beautiful 🥹♥️ And don’t even get me started on the “you’re so pretty” scene 😭 I know I’m gonna need plenty of tissue boxes in 4 days 🥺
