Here's my new, breezy French Touch track! For this one, I tried to go for a very early French Touch sound, a sound similar to early Cassius and Air. Here's an example of a record I've been spinning a lot lately that might give you a good idea of what I'm talking about:

I started by looking for a string sample that would suit the sound I was going for. Once I found one, the rest of the song kind of fell into place. I chopped up a quiet part of the rhythm section and kept it under a low-pass filter for atmosphere, while the string part played on top. I always found string samples really beautiful, especially because it's not a sound that's easy to replicate well with MIDI instruments.
Finally, I added a couple of samples that fit nicely from other tracks. I think that in total, there's about three or four different songs sampled here! I should also note that the string part used here is actually in 6/8, which made it a bit tricky to sample on top of everything. You can hear the different time signatures at about 2:00 when the two snares start playing against each other! I think that when everything kicks in it's less noticeable though.
