May Dev Update

What’s up Cloudheads. I hope quarantine has given you plenty of time to do some exploring…

It’s a source of personal regret that we haven’t been able to produce really chunky updates these past few months with which to occupy isolated heads and hands, although our artist Moon has done a fine job picking up the slack (we’re once again close to having a visual for every scene in the game, our ultimate goal). This has been the result of some unrelated turmoil which ultimately meant I had to take the last couple of months off from writing the game, and the decision to bin the Wrecks update.

This was a deeply difficult decision for me in particular, because I had put a great deal of work into Wrecks - around 120 pages’ worth of content alone - and because they were something I had envisioned right from when we first started blue-skying (white-clouding?) this game. Unfortunately they were just too difficult to code, at least with the tiny team and tight amounts of time available to us (Noob has a much more demanding full-time job). We want to have Cloud 10 completed by 2022/3, and that means some stuff has to be streamlined.

The good news is all that content won’t be wasted: it will be repurposed into space encounters in the next few zones, so hopefully things will go a bit more zippily in terms of turning those out. Sirens and Mantises, monster girl-esque encounters I had planned, will similarly become space encounters as well. Over the last couple of updates we’ve gotten the economy of the game closer to where we want it, as well as introducing Artifacts, about which I’m happy. With any luck the next backers’ update will include Hlokk & Lode, a huge amount of ilzune-centric content produced by William. This will hopefully give you a taste for space-elf-saturated Ifriq, the second zone to be opened up after Maniward, which I will be back at producing next month.

Take care of yourselves,
Nonesuch
