Hi!

So, before work kicks off for real this year, I had some time to kill, and I had to take my mind off from writing/scripting/rendering the actual story for a bit. Winter is a very slow season for my real-life work, so I hope I can have some progress before spring. I don't know about you guys, but I'm the kind of person that learns things very easily... BUT, if I don't use those things quickly I forget almost everything in the blink of an eye, like I have the memory span of a sparrow. I try to make myself at least use the programs, skills, etc. for a bit so it's fresh on my mind.

Anyway, I've been listening to Charlotte Cardin a lot these couple of weeks, something about her just entranced me, idk. I really like this song in particular, and I needed to work on my animation workflow to see what I can make work in my current setup.

As you may have read on one of my posts, I don't really have the gear to render animations locally. I use a 3rd-party rendering service (Jack's iRay server) for all renders. It's very nice but it comes with its caveats. I can't queue frames, if ANYTHING important changes on the frame, a part of it has to be uploaded again, and then uploading can get really slow sometimes:

11 minutes just to upload 385mb of a 11.7gb render. Ouch.

I try to work around that to keep renders getting produced. I improved a lot on my efficiency, I try to render everything in 4k and downscale it to 1080p, that helps with the noise, and now I think I figured out how to make less noisy dark shots. The plan is to build a local render machine so I can work on my pc and send renders locally via ethernet to it, and I'll be able to stream render animations.

This animation I did all today, from the idea, tests, setting up the scene, rendering the frames, post, etc. When I finished, I noticed a PRETTY BIG issue that's most noticeable in 2 of the shots, see if you can spot it. But alas, I took what I could from it and learned a bit.

Post is getting long so I'll stop for now. I'm working on setting up itchio and a website (just a landing page actually) so I can post the game in more places, apparently F95 links are not THAT popular around other circles, I can understand why, but oh well. So, while I do that, if you could help me spread the word around where you can I would deeply appreciate it.

Thanks! Hope you guys have a great weekend.

(this is a test render I did when I was working on the stills for the main menu and stuff, note the car is badly textured).
