The long wait is over, Welcome to Zanskar!

My first video in the Zanskar series from this winter. It is just a basic introduction piece to setup the series. Talking about what I felt about being in Zanskar for the first time and the challenges I faced during the trip.

Hope you all enjoy it.

Thanks Sridhar

Hi Saravana, great hear that you are doing well and recovered completely. Keep doing great work, it's not easy to shoot these nice videos in extreme weather conditions.

Beautiful Saravana. Thanks for doing this. Glad you are doing better

Yes, it doesnt look very scientific does it? But it is the traditional Amchi method for treating frostbite and I was curious to try it. It brought back feeling to the toes almost immediately (they were numb for 3 whole days before that). The next couple of days were very painful as the blood started circulating again. And I knew that I was no longer in danger of losing my toes due to frostbite. The only issue was that the burn wounds took a long time to heal. Especially in the winter when I had to wear shoes and thick socks to protect from the cold.

Thank you for the kind words Venkat.

Burning your toes does not look like a scientific cure to me but you survived it. Lovely pictures from a unique culture. Roads are bringing a lot of change that cannot be turned back if the people don't want those changes . Great work Saravana

Hi Saravana looking forward for the series ahead. Your videos are like nothing less than a beautiful art. I was saying to my friends that your channel will be like a rich repository and a guide to people to know more about the intricate details and way of life of the people in Himalayan ranges. Thanks for documenting it so well .

Thanks for the kind words James. Really appreciate it. I hope to do justice to the wonderful people of Zanskar through my videos.

Thanks David. I have almost fully recovered from the frostbite. It is not an issue any longer. Yes, I did have a drone this time and it made my life a lot easier. Looking forward to using it more on my upcoming trips.

Hello from Seattle! So glad you got back to the Himalayas and I sincerely hope your feet and toes can eventually have a full recovery. Looking forward to seeing more of Zanskar. Did you have a drone with you this time? David Koelle

This is a beautiful way to document not only the vanishing ways of these stalwart people, but it's also a testament to your personal fortitude and resiliency. The sacrifices you make to pursue your calling leave me deeply grateful that you are healing and still with us to tell the bittwersweet tale. Blessings and good Karma for you always where ever you go. Thank you.
