Slouph’s super simple lazy method of editing sketches to post on Twitter

This is my simple lazy way of getting sketches ready to post on Twitter! I only use my phone, currently this is an iPhone 8 plus, but I used to have a HuaWei phone which also had a similar proces.

Step 1: Take a photo! Try to make the lighting even (although you can fix this later!) and be careful not to have your phone shadow over your picture.

Step 2: Use the photo filter setting to change the filter to B/W or noir.

Step 3: If you took the photo at an angle, you can fix up the angle a bit using the other options in the crop/rotate settings.

Step 3: Adjust the brilliance, turn it all the way up!! It will even out any unevenness in the lighting.

Step 4: Turn up the contrast, this will make the page more white and the lines more black.

Step 5: Turn up the exposure, but use sparingly otherwise your finer lines will disappear 🫥

Done!

Extra steps: If I need to erase something (for example sketches overlapping), I just use the mark up tools to do it usually (pen icon in the corner). Using the marker tool set to white in 0 opacity, I can ‘white out’ things that distract from the sketch, using the marker tool set to black and medium opacity is how I usually add shadows!

Pro tip! ☝️🤓After whiting things out I turn the exposure up a tiny bit and the whites out bits will blend right in. Messing around with any setting dials has the extra effect of ‘locking in’ any mark ups, so effectively you can kind of draw and erase on successive layers.

So that’s it! Pretty much every sketch thread posted to Twitter I have edited this way ✍️😯
