Heya!^^
The next one is done out of my series of traditional drawings, showing my favourite video game/movie heros, especially from my childhood, that kept me company on the way ;)
One character that surely went missing and forgotten is this one, featured in one of the first and calmest games for Playstation 2: Jake from Dog's Life.
I LOVED Dog's Life as a game, ever since I first played it. it wasn't too brutal, too difficult while still being enjoyable and challenging. I loved the mini games, soundtracks and level here plus all the small details that a dog could do! I know it's old but for me it's gold.
Jake, the protagonist, is on a quest to save his socalled "soon-to-be girlfriend" Daisy after she got kidnapped by dog catchers. Therefore, he has to collect bones through many different mini games and individual quests throughout a bunch of levels and areas to impress and defeat other local dogs. It felt pretty natural and realistic to a dog's life, even though it doesn't sound like it XD All the digging, barking, eating, chasing...pooping even..? Oh well XDYeah, in hindsight the game has been a little unruly or distasteful but it's been funny, it's been sweet and friendly to the player so it will stay in my heart. Jake the dog, who not only has a cool design, is a goofy, silly character with a heart of gold. You may notice that his eyes look a little derp, but that just underlines his goofiness and humor xD
For this image I yet again worked with coloured pencils for the shading and added a complementary colour, which is green this time. Due to the fact that most of the levels where sunny and you start on a farm with wide areas of green grass, I thought it would be fitting to show that a little on his fur, making it look like the colour is reflecting on him a bit. I wanted to also add the bones he has to collect and he even dances for, just like his favourite ball you get to see a couple of times in the game, just to add a few more elements to the image^^
Do you know or have you even played the game? What did you think of it?
I really hope you like this drawing^^
