The Story of Centralia
Added 2021-11-02 11:15:01 +0000 UTCThere's a lot to the story of Centralia - including many interesting details I couldn't find space for in the video. One of my favourite notes is that it served as inspiration for the makers of the 2006 horror film Silent Hill - which is based on one of my favourite video games ever.
It's also interesting to note that you can still visit the town. Many people do each year, and until recently there was a "graffiti highway" on a disused road where people would create art and leave messages.
Finally, one of the buildings that does still survive to this day is the church. It's in a part of town that isn't too badly affected, and so it's still able to hold services, and is maintained in good condition. Something of a miracle!
