Progress Report

Well, Hello there!

My week has been pretty busy after my last update with my job so, haven't had much time on the project, which of course left the weekend alone to pick up all the slack.

I have been crunching all Saturday and Sunday. I'm not complaining, just saying, anyway.

So far I managed to rewrite the Forage event system and the attached event list. I play-tested it several times and it honestly feels better, less loosing your coin pouch and more finding bunches of flowers, that sort of stuff. Plus it supports more events on an "open ballot" roll system. It is still kind of makeshift, but most things in coding are. Yet it is stable and feels much better than the last version.

I have also managed to clean up the code for the fighting system. But that is it, it looks better behind the scenes but it is the same. The plan is to cut some of the magic numbers and variables, (now that I "see" what I'm doing,) set them up on the "meeting the bandit" passage and have them pre-fed into a fight while also leaving them changeable in a single place. What this means is that it will be super easy to put different enemies into the game, once it is done.

Thirdly, I wanted to introduce stat checks into the dialog of the story. After all, whats the point of logging stat changes. Besides, it can lead to branching stories matching different play styles (aka player characters). I implied this in Gispers introduction but didn't do it, because I didn't want to congest his introduction. Then I have slept on it and realized that it's better if it is in one place, and to get it out of the way, early into your choices. So the better part of Sunday went with rewriting Gispers introduction.

TL;DR: I reworked the forage system, I'm working on the fighting system, and I'm also rewriting Gispers introduction.

I'm typing as fast as I can. hopefully next week is more relaxing, and after finishing up the above, I'm left with some free-time to write up and plan the interior of the village.

Whatever's done by next weekend, I'll put it up here. Thank you all for all of your continued interest and support, see you then.
