Warriors vs Thunder | Gm-14|

Comments

this is actually so real and true

Ethan Brosemer

Klay is now approaching being that player that the other team hopes he hits a couple of shots early a la Marcus Smart. If he's hot early he remains in heat check mode for the next 2 hours. If he won't play team D, and is too slow for wings in onball, never actually sets adequate screens to free anyone else then what is he really? He just turns into a thirsty gunner that takes way too many shots. Hell there are so many guys that can hit open 3's now that play D, every team has at least 3 of them. He's just not worth starting anymore.

Russ

HOT TAKE: The core 3 have been AVOIDING being a regular season team since the year KD got hurt (and maybe the 73-9 year, if we wanna go there) because they just don’t value the grind anymore. But seriously, think about it. If not for Steph’s 3 pt record and Klay’s return, would the core 3 really have sat still through that ‘22 season? Have the HOF Dubs ever actually prided themselves on a quiet, spurs-like regular season campaign since they broke the record? The core 3 are thrill hounds and they’ll never stay locked in for the ups and downs of a regular season ever again. They just wanna skip this shit and play playoff basketball. I don’t blame them, but only now, the irony is that because they currently look so beatable, the core 3 probably SHOULD chill out during the regular season. This season could be a disaster if not. They may never see playoff basketball again. I think the ONLY silver living of this season is that there’s now a bunch of young guys who are hungry for the grind of a regular season and a HOF point guard who doesn’t understand championship dopamine. Draymond started it off but let’s be real: A core 3 sabbatical could be the last thing that could actually help this team

yan't get right

Alch, trayce was not playing because he was injured. He hurt his leg in the g league. I'm amazed at how many people seem not to know this. It was on the injury report. That's why he was not in uniform.

Carla Davis

Maybe something we should have a pod on 🍻

Stevie Ray

If we can get this type of Wiggs production.. that will make it easier for Klay to check those stupid contested shot he takes It will also help Steph too.. I think Steph was selfish last night because I think he is starting to not trust anyone but himself. He flipped that switch.. If Wiggs can get back to 20 ppg Wiggs... i think Steph will pull back a bit. I think Klay started chucking this season too when he saw Wiggs being passive. If yall remember.. Klay was moving the ball around to start the season.. he didnt start chucking until he seen Steph being the only one putting shots up

Ballin Forever

I know it’s early, and that I tend to be a pessimist - but we may need to recalibrate our expectations for this year. We’re not the only talented team out there - there are lots of teams with young and hungry ballers that have good coaches.

Ryan Mitchell

Giddey seems like the odd man out. He isn't really a great shooter nor a good defender. He needs the ball in his hand to be effective, but they already got 3 ball handlers who are superior.

Jacob

Thanks, that's just unacceptable. You're always a step ahead.

forepj

He got hurt in Santa Cruz

Athletic Alchemy

I'm with you fam, but I've seen reporting that says he's not playing cause he's hurt right now. If he's 100% he should not be spending any time in Santa Cruz for the rest of the season.

forepj

Got to see if Trayce can be the other type of big we need before the deadline

Athletic Alchemy

true, he once again put us in a bad spot this last week

Athletic Alchemy

yup.. they have (splash bros) blurred the lines of a good shot bad shot for so long...

Athletic Alchemy

no worries I totally understand not wanting to relive some games.

Athletic Alchemy

now that you mention it! shit

Athletic Alchemy

right.. well said

Athletic Alchemy

CP 3 ball arriving along with WIgs.. I hear you

Athletic Alchemy

They are going to be looking at the same decision they had with the OG big 3 pretty soon. Specially with the new cap rules

Athletic Alchemy

I am looking at potential moves way earlier than I typically do is best I can put it. We have a lot of flexibility as opposed to previous years

Athletic Alchemy

The frustration has been an accumulation of the streak, there are some positive things going on no doubt

Athletic Alchemy

Any ideas on who might would bite on a Klay deal?

Athletic Alchemy

Nah I’m sill pissed. I don’t think there is a benefit to sending him down to the G. He needs to adjust to the NBA not a bunch an undersized guys . Then he gets chipped up there

Athletic Alchemy

Alch... TJD hurt. Check your outrage.

forepj

Another thing I'm thinking is, with GP2 (and apparently TJD) out we badly need better wing defense right now, so why not give Gui Santos a try? He's a big athletic wing, exactly what the rest of the league is stacked with. Loon and Dario can't be expected to guard the perimeter, and CP3 and Curry can't, Klay can't, his body's too slow even when his mind isn't out to lunch because of frustration or bong hits or whatever. Wiggins, Moody, and Kuminga are our only good wing defense right now, and that's only covering 3 players even IF they're all playing at the same time, which isn't often.

Neal X

true, less movement lately and when he dribbles we all hold our breath.

Childe Costa

a lot of late game hero ball from Clang Thompson and a spice-less Chef. Surprised Kerr didn't give Moody and KJ's minutes to C. Joseph. On the brighter side, Wiggins' play was inspiring. Was so excited for him in the 4th, hitting the game winner ! You knew they were heading to the gallows in OT. Devastating loss.

Childe Costa

If the Warriors falls of, I might be a Thunder fan. They are so fun to watch. Chet, sga and Jalen are all guys who have no weakness on offense which is super rare. I think Chet's offensive skill is ahead of Wemby, his physical tools are just not as freaky

Qiushi Hu

Klay needs to be benched and Kerr will continue to dig his own grave in the name of “rotations” and “vets > rookies always”. No TJD against a long athletic team WITHOUT GP2 AND DRAY?!?!?!? You’re fucking kidding me right? No fuck this team right now man. Can’t stand the bullshit they’re putting out on the floor. I have tickets to a December game before Christmas and I’m this close to selling them. They may not win again in November.

Jansen E

SGA took the warriors to the deep waters and drowned them. That man went full on extra terrestrial on us.

bayareaglock

Klay doesn’t really move much off ball anymore. He used to be running round all over the place now he just stands there and waits for the ball

Kurtis Forge

Not to be a Pollyanna, but I think Wiggins’ return to form is the only thing that mattered last night.

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

OKC 22-6 run in the 3rd quarter. No time out - why??? Warriors were gassed. Saric is still adapting to playing with Steph. He's more at ease with CP3 on the floor. Whenever Steph comes back, for the first couple of games or so he's not his typical self. Partly bc the other teams crank up their defense on him more than usual. Look at how they guard Steph. Warriors let Chet & SGA get too comfortable. Draymond & GP2 are out. You can't send guys to the G League & risking injury. We need TJD. Foul up 3. Chet wasn't instantly in shooting motion. Do it.

Bailey

So rather than trading players or replacing Kerr why are we not talking about hiring the best damn defensive manager as assistant coach to right this ship?

B Master

But isn‘t that the problem. What is probably the thinking process of the Coaching staff and Klay? Not: „Yo Klay, those are bad shots - you should take Better ones“. What they think is: „ Man, that’s Klay. You gotta let him shoot, than he will probably make them“.

Jakob

This OKC shot making is absurd,it's to the point where I feel like to beat them you have to score 140. And the moment they didn't foul Chet I knew the game was over, once they start hitting the only way to get a stop is to not let them shoot, if it goes up its going in. The defense doesn't effect them at all

KuraiT

It’s not every team though, it just feels like it because we’ve played these guys 3 times already

Billy Roberson

Also is Garuba just not gonna ever play a second? No draymond or gp2 and we’re getting cooked but no sight of him, so why did we sign him? He also provides that weak side rim protection we’re lacking. I guess you could say bc his offense is too rough, but we have a lot of one way guys playing rn where the juice doesn’t seem to be worth the squeeze. As far as the coaching goes, do you think Kenny Atkinson could be an answer? He had success with that young Brooklyn team but also has experience with us, could be a middle ground between the old coaches and the young analytic guys

Luke Zhang

I also think Draymond not being there kind of gave Klay the ain’t nobody here to say shit so imma just chuck it coz fuck it, but u know when draymond be going in on klay on defense, what’s to say he wouldn’t do the same after all those horse shit shots from klay.

Philip Heston

I think Trace had a foot injury and wasn’t supposed to play.

Ehter_293

Some of these shots OKC was hitting you just shake your head, missed GP2 sorely last night. This feels like the year the new era takes over. Warriors/Suns/Lakers were the teams people predicted outside of Denver to be contending out the west but all 3 look old and slow it’s looking like minny/okc/sac are coming for those top 4 spots. I still think we have the pieces to contend but it’s on Kerr to make both the basketball decisions and have the tough human conversations. If any of yall have seen Ted lasso I feel like Kerr needs to have that heart to heart with Klay that Ted had with Roy Kent in season 1.

Luke Zhang

reaaaaaaal tough one. Bright side was seein Wiggs do his thing. lets hope it's a catalyst. My real issue is there's too many good teams they don't match up well with. Just from a numbers standpoint, they're gonna see at least one of em in the playoffs/finals

Mikey H

Mike's attention is more on their offensive output.. when he was with us.. his focus was solely defense. Secondly... the Kings dont have any rim protection and outside of Dfox and Davion, they dont have the defensive personnel

Ballin Forever

My thought on this is that the kings are real bad on D so was it Mike who was responsible for the dubs good D? Just a thought & curious to hear if that makes sense

Mikey H

I always hate watching these breakdowns after a loss, but a healthy dose of angry Uncle Alch ends up being just what I needed.

Paul Cox

Of course not, but I was hoping that the others are not that blind to see reality

Jakob

TJD was out due to a leg injury. He had played on Friday in Santa Cruz against the Ignite. They mentioned on the Sea Dubs broadcast he was on a minutes restriction, but idk when he got hurt or if it's just a precautionary thing. Shame too (along with last night's loss) bc Sea Dubs played a good game and won vs Ron Holland and the Ignite. Pau Gasol was at the game too.

Nick Elliston

You really think Curry is going to leave his Splash Bro out to dry, after all the years they've dominated together? Therein lies the problem. Victory has defeated us.

Neal X

Poole picked up almost all of his terrible habits from our favorite players: chucking horrific momentum killing shots (KT), careless turnovers (SC), popping off at refs for dumb techs/poor impulse control (DG). He's making a fool of himself in DC but we kind of bear some responsibility for that finished product 🤷

NN

Klays offense has always impacted his D

Nathan Glanzer

Well, well, the reports of Wiggins' death were exaggerated... not so much the reports on Kerr and Klay. Very troubling. As for OKC, hey props to them, we could be looking at a dynasty in the making.

Neal X

@ballin forever: I agree with you - it must be super though for Kerr and for Klay as well. Hopefully the team and coaching staff finds a good way because otherwise it probably won‘t work out and the warriors won‘t win a championship in the near future

Jakob

I am not sure about this. Kerr probably would not do that.

Jakob

Maybe if half the staff wasn't related we'd have less blind spots

NN

Right now I see Kerr doing the Phil Jackson thing allowing the vets to sink the team. The vets have to feel the pain and responsibility of losing. Can you imagine how much Klay would bitch if he were benched? He’d be insufferable. He already had a game winner this year, and has a huge ego. I hate the losing, but I think it has to happen this way. Vets gotta to decide step up or step aside.

Pew pew pew. Finger guns are my 2nd amendment right!

Seems something drastic will happen if they are blown out by the Rockets. A lot more blame should be on their enabling of Draymond.

Goku44

If every single team is hitting tough shots in every single game, then you have to look in the mirror.

Julian

As bad as Klay looked I think there's been some promising times with him as the pick and roll ball handler. When he comes off the pick he usually is looking to make the right pass and does. We can't have anymore of that klay iso dribbling nonsense tho.

Pelvis

facts bro

Ballin Forever

Facts @jacob and @tre. Thats the only point im making.. people are taking the humanity out of it and treating it like Nba 2K lmao. Klay is LOVED by the organization.. Its not easy telling a guy youve coached for 10 years and won 4 chips with to hit the bench. Especially for an unproven young guy...

Ballin Forever

Nothing. But Kerr is just giving his 4 championship vet guy a chance to prove himself before that final decision. Kerr knows it too.. but he is super loyal

Ballin Forever

No joke, you make some of these losses bearable man but ye.. this one hit hard. Not sure what can be done about Klay's funk. At least with Wiggins you could still see some defensive effort until the offensive explosion came in this game but with Klay, bro is zoned out on defense and pooping the bed on offense. Unreal !!

AK

i think you nailed it Alc, i thought warriors played a pretty solid game and the offense showed up, say what you want about klay and kerr and whatever but the thunder hit tough tough shots and that Chet 3 at the end is probably like a 20%, if not less, make with wiggins right there. Definitely a bad one but damn we just cant catch a break. Also lets not forget we are missing Draymond, we gotta put some blame on him for some of these losses. If he cant stay on the court because he is a hot head, what does he bring for us?

Matt Hanna

To the whole Klay situation: I think it is not only Klay who thinks that he has to shoot and everything will be better (who still believes that he will be the 2018 himself). I think that Dray, Steph and Kerr also believe that. During OT, Klay took a shot from the right corner - bad angle and of course he missed. Luckily, Looney got the rebound and passed to Steph. But, Steph right away passed to Klay who had the same position as before, shot again and missed again. Honestly, that’s on Steph. Why is he passing the ball to Klay? Of course Klay is going to shoot.

Jakob

Even though the loss is though, I am happy to see that Wiggs had kind of a breakout game and how Everyone was happy with his performance. And honestly, people should lower their expectations of Wiggs. He is a former No. 1 pick which we got for Dlo and a first round draft pick. That’s says everything. He has his flaws and it won‘t change. But I am positive that he will play like the 2022 championship Wiggs once again

Jakob

how did giddey fall out of favor so quickly? was surprised to see him on the bench in the clutch when he was featured so prominently last year. I mean I don't disagree- Jalen Williams looks incredible but wonder what they're gonna do with giddey

Jaystaypaid

No, this means that Steve Kerr is human

Jakob

Hate to say it. I don’t think having klay come off the bench is a bad idea. But kuminga in there for size and put wiggs on the 2. We don’t have size or athleticism.

Paul Byun

Spent all last year blaming Poole for their problems. He did himself no favors but clearly this team isn't what they say they are. Draymond acting like an unstable baby. He stomped on Sabonis and tried to start a riot. He should have received 10 games for that. The Gobert choke should have been 20. His own coach was yelling at him to let go. Klay chucking. I'm still not sure how Klay's chucking was different than Poole's chucking. Kerr being stubborn and ostracizing Moody and Kuminga again. They should have traded them both last year with Poole. Trade them now for players who Kerr will play. Call Chicago for DeRozan or call New York for Barrett or do something.

Goku44

klays seen this movie before. everyone talks shit when he's not shooting / not focused. its frustrating for the fans and its frustrating for klay. but remember, if he hits these ridiculously hard shots, fans shake their heads and say "klay gonna klay" and mentally allow it. imma ride or die klay. he deserves it. ps. its still frustrating as hell

Chris Williams

Hey alch. If you notice your viewership numbers going down try not to worry about it too much. I'm staying subscribed. But forgive me for not wanting to relive last night

Gregory Walker

I always thought that wigggins would eventually get it going, even had the over on his points before FanDuel shut down all warriors bets for me 🤷🏾‍♂️

Aben

So he can’t get past his personal feelings to do what’s best to win games? This is a description of a bad coach

Andre Brooks

He’s gotten worse and obviously those injuries don’t do him justice… Kerr has to step up and give him a lesser role

Javig02

sign the petition to have kerr bench Klay - https://www.change.org/p/urge-steve-kerr-to-start-moses-moody-over-klay-thompson

El_Remolino

Preach. What the fuck is the development staff doing? Why do half the players seem like they’re not on the scoring report? Whole coaching staff looks bad

Andre Brooks

So you’ve just been having a bad time since he came back from injury then? He’s been this guy for years now

Andre Brooks

I agree with all of this but if the goal is to win and ultimately win a championship then sacrifices must be made for the betterment of the team..you have to adjust and play the role needed.

Tre

Someone explain to me what Klay offers in 2023 that’s better than what MM has to offer? Kerr starting to look like a bottom 3rd coach.

Andre Brooks

WTF was Klay thinking, AGAIN.. How can he watch tape of these games and not see he is selling his team. Is he following the POOLE METHOD!?!?!

Ron Rierson

Long been a Kerr defender (especially since so much of the rhetoric coming from his haters last year seemed dumb and shortsighted), but I'm losing patience with him fast. Poor schemes and dumb decision-making is too much the norm right now, and the team just doesn't look well-coached.

Karim Q

That middy from Steph on sga in the 2nd was tough af.. 🤢 u fucking with his pink shoes tho??

richard phan

I get your point and I agree with you. However, you do not do the core 3 a favor if you do not adjust because we won‘t win another chip.

Jakob

Yes. This was the worst loss of the season. How is this team this dumb? They preach smart basketball. Make the extra pass. 0.5 second decision making. Players with over 10 years of experience. Kerr with far more. But for a career game from Wiggins, this is probably another wire to wire defeat, and due to the poor decision making of the players and coaches who should be better than this.

Thomas Ogas

Also not a single timeout from Kerr when OKC was on a 22-6 run to close the 3rd.

Cristian Paulino

with the surplus of picks, it's fully possible that J-Dub ends up their 4th option in his prime with their future acquisitions.

Stevie Ray

I'm not sure if this new Thunder big 3 of Shai/Chet/Jalen Williams is as talented as the OG OKC team. But in my opinion, they fit together MUCH BETTER and have better-supporting pieces to be a powerhouse for years to come.

Jacob

Honestly as bad as this loss was, I feel optimistic that we're heading in the right direction. I really like them lineup and rotation kerr ran last night. A couple of maze shots from us or a couple of missed shots from them and the narrative is completely different. I just don't want that to get lost we look a lot better last night.

ACowNamedStan

Kerr is in a position that most coaches never have to be in. Never have a vet team also had a ton of young players while also competing for a championship. Its usually one or the other. Kerr who basically groomed this team to be a championship is being asked to bench key pieces that helped him win in the past.. for newer unproven guys. Its easy for us fans to make that decision because we dont know these guys personally. Actually having to make the decision to bench a guy that helped you win 4 championships... a guy that you personally love.... is not an easy decision. I cant think of any coach in recent history that had to make these decisions.

Ballin Forever

or leave

Dami I

Change is hard. OKC reminds me of the 20 14–15 Warriors. Not in the shooting of threes-but in the relentlessness of the energy and offense from all. Strength in Numbers. Now the Warriors played better defense back then. But it’s obvious one team is on the way up and one team is on the way down.

Paul Hanson

alch - ik we all came into this season optimistic, wondering how u feeling now? A lot of people r piling on klay now and although some of it is harsh, he really doesnt look good at all

Alex Lee

Sucks to lose but hopefully Wiggins keeps it up.

Nathan Glanzer

They announced before the game that TJD was out with knee soreness because of playing in the G the night before.... Which was the actual problem. Why would you send him there if you know you'll need him the next day.... So yeah, decisions from the coaching staff have been really bad all year.

Cristian Paulino

Kuminga with 2 dribbles or less = top 5 most promising prospect 21 and under Jono with 3 dribbles or more = the Kuminga lowlight reel

Stevie Ray

TJD got hurt playing in the G league.. of course Kerr sends him down there and he gets hurt.. just all around bozo shit from Kerr..

Enzo Cree

I know we lost.. but we clearly let our foot off the gas. Its wild how good we looked when Klay and Wiggs dont play absolutely horrible. We got something from both of them and built a lead quickly

Ballin Forever

Insert any other Warrior in Klay's OT minutes and likely see another outcome. It foreshadows Kerr's playoff plans if the front office doesn't make the decision for him. Attach picks to Klay's expiring at the deadline. Find the best athletic size available.

Stevie Ray

Absolutely sucks seeing Klay play like this…

Javig02

I think its pretty clear that Mike Brown is in total charge of our defense while Kerr just focused on the offense. As soon as Mike left... so did our defense. I think head coaches get too much credit for what happens on both ends of the court.

Ballin Forever

Yeah TJD got injured in Santa Cruz the night before. But my question is why didn't he play in the last game? Could have used him both nights and stop sending him down to get time with the Sea Dubs he is a better matchup for these quick teams than both Looney and Dario. Who cares about his offense.

Anthony Berry

Trayce was injured hence why he didn't suit up lol. Lower leg soreness.

Alan Phan

Kerr is a bozo been telling y’all that…

Enzo Cree

Damn Chet decided to do it to us 😭… this is literally the perfect game for draymond smh… draymond is fast enough to keep up with him and stronger than chet… we just couldn’t guard him without showing a double team which allowed shai to get hot… yeah this ain’t our year.. just feels this way

Offtopic K

Ey alch, its your friend from the end of the world, we´re voting for president today in Argentina, its a crazy day, good thing the breakdown is up so i can disconect for a min

tomas klappen

Knee soreness form playing in the G

Athletic Alchemy

oh ok.. I was hot!

Athletic Alchemy

trayce was out with knee soreness

Chris Cho

Klay better have downloaded duolingo after the game cause he’ll need it

Edgy SC
