Hey Mr. Only-Numbers-Matter. Since box plus minus seems to be your only stat that justifies the "logic" you keep bringing up, why not take a look at this?: https://www.reddit.com/r/warriors/comments/18sfxvy/plus_minus_data_so_far/ Thats the total BPO for all players for the season so far. Lets see who is Top 5 in BPO: With an astonishing +106, rookie Podz is #1. CP3 is #2 with +105. Saric is #3 with +89. TJD is #4 with +58. And well well well. Look what we have here. Mr. "Can't play with Wiggins" is #5 with a +55. By your "logic", those guys should be our new starting 5. Corey Joseph should be taking Curry's minutes. Klay Thompson is mid as fuck. And we should cut Andrew Wiggins immediately and have a ballboy drop him off at the nearest YMCA. Please continue telling me how +/- is the end all, be all of stats.

Jansen E

it makes sense they would be redundant unless they're both excellent on defense (i'm uncertain if kuminga is). You generally want a complement of shooters to help space the floor you don't need two guys driving to the basket. Also if the stats look bad on it that's not nothing. I don't think Kerr is lying about that.

B Master

FREE KUMINGA if you can’t handle it Steve because KUMINGA is going to happen.

terrance stearns

Remember the press conference where Klay was super sulky and defensive and talking about being benched like it was a fate worse than death? Bud, you ain't performing it's time to let someone else play until you figure it out, it's not about YOU, it's about the TEAM. And the way he sarcastically thanked "Steve" for sticking with him despite his issues, just really left a bad taste in my mouth about the man's maturity level. It's on Kerr to hopefully stop enabling and bench him if he's not going to display effort on D, regardless of his shot.

Neal X

Klay and Looney have to be on a shorter leash. They aren't being a positive on the court right now.

Keith Reynolds Jr.

Serious question: is the ‘profile’ for Podziemski’s ceiling Isiah Thomas (Detroit, not Boston)? Trying to think of other little guys who have been truly elite scrapy + elite handle + elite scoring besides Zeke. Thoughts?

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

lol I’m just messing around, man

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

I have this feeling that we need to sacrifice one of klay or dray so we can continue to be competitive. These guys get to play with terrible effort, and get rewarded, while every other promising player on our roster will get benched for a missed assignment. Kerr isn’t gonna do it, Bob Meyers wasn’t gonna do it, dunleavy has to do it. Maybe thinking we will get a good return for Klay or dray is a pipe dream at this moment, but clearing out the cap and removing two massive egos allows this roster to move forward. I mean, part of me thinks that this roster underperforming will do it the most justice. If we cannot go deep into the playoffs, then we know for sure that the core of Klay, Draymond, Steph, and Wiggins isn’t gonna cut it. The reason I feel Grant is possible is because he has a very big/long contract that most teams can’t really fit for his role. I think he is ideally a 3rd/4th star on a contender. Portland sheds the salary, Klay is just a salary piece in that deal that goes away after this year, and maybe they get a nice player and/or a pick for it. I don’t think that needs to be kuminga. And Grant imo looks to be able to play with any of our wings. Steph wants to win above all, if we move the roster in that direction, make smart decisions, then things will work out.

Robert St.Claire

And the sad thing is young guys are producing and look How many time the young guys nail out this team. that just made kerr looked bad choosing the vet over young guys

weng

Kerr has his flaws, he's definitely not perfect, but the real issue is that we have at least 3 major pieces on this roster that we can't depend on to really perform on a night-to-night basis. If we're asking in every game, "Is Loon going to show up? Is Wiggs going to show up? Is Klay going to show up?" we have a huge problem.

Neal X

he's the OG phantom banana peel splatter though, we can give him that! 😂

NN

Basketball gods saw the flopping on Christmas Day and sent one of their goons to Aaron Gordon’s house

Gunners4life

yea I also felt crazy embarassed for Wiggs. Bro has all the gifts in the world, super athlete, but is the most timid player I have ever seen. If he was simply more aggressive he would be insanely good even on his off shooting nights, idk what his deal is. maybe he got his ring and his money and wants to hang it up, b/c it looks like he has no interest in baskeball and no competitive spirt unless a fellow Canadian is on the floor.

Nathan Harbison

Ummm kuminga doesn't need cp3 to say that....it's the truth lol jk can get a good shot whenever he wants.....he been super patient and trying to fit in and is rewarded with being benched lol makes no sense

k fish

And yet we have another option in Moody who can defend AND shoot and is riding pine.

Neal X

"Klay can play like straight garbage and be completely untouchable" leaving aside everything else in the essay, I think we can all agree on this being a huge and obvious problem. Kerr has spared the rod, and spoiled the child.

Neal X

Yea he def comes off as racist....I mean we know he loves small ball but it's still interesting how is first good white player is leading the team in minutes as a rookie while moody and kuminga and even tjd still seem to have to fight for there minutes every single night lol, I never said Kerr is why Wiseman failed but it's pretty clear he didn't help the guys confidence, I mean look how he treats deserving young players lol everyone ain't mentally strong to put up with kerrs bs. You're literally still trying to defend Kerr lol it's like talking to a wall....it's crazy u comment so much and are always wrong, at this point u might be kerrs burner account because you can't believe half the stuff u say

k fish

What do you think of this Alch? https://twitter.com/warriorsworld/status/1739544636082016425?t=DAFduLbWKs7JgOwCLNBZ-g&s=19

keith lorenz

OK fair enough, Grant is rumored to be moved a lot and we would dearly love to get him but I think it would take Podz, TJD, or Kuminga with their super low salaries to get it done. No one wants Klay and his current salary and future demands for another high salary which seems to be the case. Teams will be very anti Klay for a myriad of reasons. I think we would love it if they would take Wiggins, Klay, and Moody and swap them for Grant, but Portland wants no part of underperforming overpaid guys like Wiggs and Klay, in the NBA that's the kiss of death. Also your Dray take is shared by more people everyday, me included. For a run for a chip we need him probably, if we are a season away he's perhaps not worth it but in real life I think Steph decides..

Russ

Btw, I’m glad you focused on the CP3/Wiggins clip. My jaw kinda dropped when they showed that during the game. I found it so embarrassing (for Wiggs) that I was actually surprised they aired it. Two years ago, Wiggs season really started with his dunk on his old teammate KAT. Hopefully, his duel with Murray will similarly kick start him.

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

wowowow, thats a huge stretch but even if its true, its for our best, Kerr and the core need to accept the rising youth anyways

Naji Zouhari

there was that game at Oracle back in 2016 ... remember? 😂

Childe Costa

I think the reason why the blazers would consider it is due to Grant not fitting there timeline, they can get out of his contract easily, and Klay only has this year. I definitely suggested a one for one, but I don’t think it would be that.

Robert St.Claire

Bonus Conspiracy theory: MDJ was known as Poole’s biggest supporter. But look at every move he’s made since taking the reins. Isn’t it obvious he sabotaged Myers on some snake shit?

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

Alternate conspiracy theory: CP3 is pulling a Barzini. Despite smiling for the camera, CP3 has never truly made peace with the embarrassment of joining the hated Warriors as a bench player. He wants to break up the core and has been up in JK’s ear gassing him up in order to cause dissension. All that, “no one can stay in front of me talk” is from Chris Paul. CP3 may be eating shit now, but he’s quietly working to get his enemy Dray to get sent to the North Pole. Call it the Shawshank Theory.

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

That Klay frat/stoner impersonation… so good.

stephen rice

I like JK’s comments. Dude wanted to win that game and felt he could’ve done better than Klay.

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

They were fine in there together so you're point is invalid. Nuggets opened up the lead when Kerr put klay back in, ima cook u on every post because you don't know the game

k fish

Mf Wiggins and jk can dribble better then klay lol and as far as shooting it don't matter when you're shot selection kills possessions....u do know scoring in the paint especially late in games is very valuable right

k fish

The sad part is I agree kuminga is prob the 2nd best option on offense but I feel like Kerr still thinks he is a negative on offense.......the disconnect from kerr and reality is crazy. Kerr was forced into a 5 game win streak lol he still thinks his way is what will get it done

k fish

Lol ummm maybe he would write it because anyone who understands basketball knows kuminga should of played way more......he is a huge part of the reason they win. As good as Wiggins was him and jk ain't exactly the same player....Kerr refusal to play them together limits this roster to what there ceiling can be. Only 1 good wing defender allowed at a time? 1 great athlete who can post and score easy buckets lol they both can create they own shot which besides steph its basically them. Idk how long u been watching the sport but at this point bro you need to step back and learn before u comment. It's clear you don't understand the game

k fish

Aye bro talk you're shit lol don't mind amir or whatever his name is, he was hating on kuminga all last season then changed his tune up but much like Kerr when he sees a chance to down jk he will ride with kerr, he doesn't understand the game. Everything u said is fact, we are literally seeing the changing of the guard and from kerr mindset of omg we need draymond, but kuminga was showing maybe we dont and he is ready to be our next star, yet kerr as he been doing prays Wiggins plays well so he can bench jk when there really is no correlation. Both guys playing good should be what any coach wants, yet kerr sees it as yes wiggs is back, no need for jk lol. An elementary school coach can see the advantage of them both playing that's why I know Kerr ain't that dumb.....he doesn't like jk, it's been personal. I'm so sick of people saying Kerr is a great person, I don't see jt......if u can throw young guys careers to the side because how u feel about them when you're job is to win then you ain't built for the job and you're a crap person. Jk moved out here at 14. Left his family with a dream to be a goat.......he ran into the 1 coach who is going out of his way to stop that, no plays ran for himband when jk tries to be perfect and fit in that still isn't enough if we trade him I'm done with the organization after steph wraps it up. Kerr has to go

k fish

oh, are you that one guy who implies Kerr is racist (or that he likes Podz more due to skin color) for hating on Kuminga and stuff, and blamed Kerr for not using Wiseman right and Kerr is the reason Wiseman is a failure? oh lord, this again. I believe you are that "yoooooooooo" guy. nvm man, you do you.

A m a r Singg

I mean I understand all your points. Numbers do tell a tale, but so does film. If you have a chance, go look at the spacing when Kuminga and Wiggins were on the floor...they were posting Wiggins up but they had three guys in the key (Wiggins was still effective). But I disagree that Kuminga was the guy to close that game. He didn't "go away" from Kuminga, Wiggins earned it. Podz played 34 minutes so he didn't go away from him either. Should Klay have sat for Podz? probably. If you take out Klay, that takes out a shooter and a spacer for Steph. Who do you close with? If you close with Wiggins and Kuminga, who do you play at Center? You can't have three non shooters, TJD has 5 fouls and Saric had just played 8 straight minutes....this all makes sense if you really think about it. Also, here's something most people on here won't admit, Green probably would've won this game, and we will need Green if we ever play Denver in the playoffs. Judging by the response to this article (when things were looking so great), Marcus Thompson's article did its job with the fanbase. I think that's what upsets me the most. This team was really going good, lots of positive energy with the fanbase and a synergy with the coaches and players...then we get this, more drama. Great. I wouldn't be surprised if they break it up soon.

A m a r Singg

why cant we get these touch fouls if incidental contact is no longer a thing, nba really doesn't like having viewership

John Z

Numbers do not lie. But thats the fun thing about sports. Its more than just numbers. You read the room. You assess the situation. If this sport were JUST numbers, why both even playing? Just take the average ppg of both teams and whoever has the most is declared the winner, right? Its the eye test. This team needs Kuminga right now. I honestly dont care what the numbers say. If more Kuminga means less Wiggins AND/OR less Klay, then so be it. Kuminga and Podz have been THE KEY to winning lately, and Kerr goes away from it yet again. Is he a great rebounder? Meaning what? Is he averaging 15 boards a game? No, but other than Draymond, who else can grab and go, attack the paint, and possibly distribute or finish strong? We all know Wiggins wont do it. Kuminga is the only guy who can. And there you go being a numbers-slave. +/- in a sole game is THE MOST deceptive stat in the NBA. You can have the worst person on the team be a +25 because he just so happened to be on the floor when everyone else was balling out. Just the same as you can be a -19 and be the best player on the floor for the team. Im not saying he was the best player on the floor. But we clearly needed him more. But go ahead. Keep throwing numbers out there as if numbers win you games. WATCH THE GAMES, stop looking at box scores and advanced stats. The game asked for more Kuminga, more Podz/TJD pick and roll, and more handoff action. But what did we do? Chuck shots, force feed Klay and Steph who were clearly cold, and turn it over constantly.

Jansen E

I can somewhat agree with you on benching Klay. But I would've liked Podz to play over him instead of Kuminga. Podz was a much bigger positive in that game.

A m a r Singg

he shouldn't be frustrated, here are his minutes totals recently (after being bottom 10 in bpm to start the year.....along with...guess who....WIGGINS): 23,30,27,34,19,21,25,29,29. Numbers do not lie. This team had the worst wing play in the league to start and is somehow still at .500 given injuries and suspensions...it's almost a miracle tbh. Now, could he be jealous of Podz? perhaps. That's an average of 26 mpg for a 21 year old on a team trying to contend. I get it, blaming the coach is the first thing the common fan does, always, I used to hate Kerr and blame him for everything. But do yourself a favor and watch the minutes they had together...look at the spacing on Offense. Kuminga was a -23 in this game....I can see you wanting him to play the 5 to close but is he a great rebounder? Wiggins in the post was the only thing working for them, and the spacing was still very difficult with both of them on the floor. If one of them starts shooting better (likely Wiggins) then it will be a more appropriate duo. There is a logic behind all of this....most of the logic is based around creating room for Steph. Almost everything Kerr does at the end of games is for Steph...because if Steph gets comfortable, the game is over. If you wanted to bench Klay, that's fine. But for Steph to operate and Wigs in the post I'd (and most coaches) like spacing out there, and Podz would've been the guy I would play. Podz was also much more effective than Kuminga in that game. And yes, Wiggins deserved to close, his defense and offense were better than Kuminga's (and ft shooting lol). Also, how does he have a bias against young players when Podz is getting damn near 30 minutes per game (he's been just as good, if not better than Kuminga btw..definitely more positive )?

A m a r Singg

Lmfao plus minus? What was steph? I'll tell u this if u watched the game and think kuminga was the reason he was minus 23 I'd tell u that you have no idea about the sport you're watching lol u been exposed as a young guy hater and kerr fan boy do u really wanna go back to this lol

k fish

Kuminga was a -23 in his minutes vs Denver my guy, and that was mostly with Steph. The closing lineup was going to be with Steph. please.

A m a r Singg

if he wasn't getting playing time, I would agree that it would be plausible. but given his minutes recently, I strongly doubt it...that's selling the kid way short. He's getting a ton of run for a 21 year old on a contending team. Is he jealous of Podz? maybe. But Podz is a natural baller.

A m a r Singg

I'm not gonna address the refs because Im not gonna be saying anything that hasnt already been said. They were bad. Thats all. But for me this game starts with Klay. I know you pointed out that subtle change in the balance of his shot and him being zoned in on defense. Im just DISGUSTED by how, at the slightest return of MODERATE success (and I use the word "success" rather lightly, outside of that Celtics game, who tf did we really beat???), Klay immediately declares "IM BACK BITCHES", and goes right back to where he was before that small win streak. Im beginning to suspect that Klay is actually kind of dumb. Yeah we love him for his IDGAF attitude, but how much of that is really just him being lowkey kind of an idiot? The whole reason they won 4-5 games is cuz they played as a team and everyone was playing the respective roles we needed them too. But all Klank Thompson sees is 5 wins, counting them like his 4 rings and immediately thinks, YUPP I CAN GO BACK TO CHUCKING AND NOT GIVING A FUCK ABOUT DEFENSE. Those first 3 minutes set the tone of the game and they honestly never really recovered. Christmas isnt an excuse. Theyve played on Christmas how many years now?? Amarr Singh, a fellow patron, is whiteknighting the decision to pull Kuminga SO HARD. Im not trying to call you out bro, but Im calling you out. You are teeing off on EVERYBODY pointing out that Kuminga is RIGHTFULLY frustrated, calling Marcus Thompson a clickbait artist (he's not), and keep saying "Kuminga played plenty of minutes". Bro have you have been watching the last 5 games? Kuminga has been one of the sole reasons theyve been winning. YES Wiggins finally has been back playing well. I dont care what their on/off +/- is together on the court. Kuminga should be getting just as many minutes as Wiggins right now. If it aint broke dont fix it. We found somewhat of a winning formula, and Kerr immediately fucks it up AGAIN and who suffers from it? The guy who clearly can be our future star. Kuminga does not deserve this treatment and its frankly appalling how much Steve Kerr hates this man. Klay can play like straight garbage and be completely untouchable, but Kuminga has been on fire the last few games and is a key piece to winning right now, and he gets yanked for what??? Stop huffing the copium to justify Kerr's terrible coaching and clear bias against young players, particularly Kuminga.

Jansen E

If Steph got a whistle he would avg 40-50 a game

Kahlil Baker

Klay should’ve sat to close for sure. We’ve already seen it happen once this season, so it’s only a matter of another stinker before it can happen again. The biggest skill Kerr can gain this season is not “developing the youth”, it’s actually “benching the vets”

yan't get right

But dude, how often does Klay play badly for 3 quarters and then go off? He's usually great from the start, or terrible from the start. He rarely if ever has a bad first half and then picks it up in the 4Q. Kerr should recognize this, and on nights where he's struggling, sit him on the bench in the closing minutes because otherwise Klay will take the Warriors down with him.

Seb P

Yup absurd that the organization can't see what kerr is doing to this rising star who is doing his best to fit in and be patient but then is rewarded with cut minutes. Lacob needs to say play him or pack ya shit kerr

k fish

To Alch's point, I've never thought of him as a clickbait guy either, and the fact is that after the playoffs Kuminga told Kerr that he wanted out unless he had a consistent role . This shows this such comments are not out of character for him. While it's always possible that MT coaxed this out of him, it is also just as plausible if not more that Kuminga really shared this on his own initiative.

Seb P

Can klay dribble or shoot?

k fish

It’s December, bro. The warriors haven’t shown a damn thing about their long term competitiveness.

yan't get right

Kerr going to kerr

k fish

Kerr just wants to use it as another excuse not to use kuminga......how are you're best 2 slashers who both can get there own bucket and shoot good enough not be compatible.....yet we seen 4 guard lineups....dray and looney play together with a guy like gp2 etc lol we gotta stop asking these question when we know the real answer

k fish

I can already see the young guys being buried on the bench once GP2 and Draymond return. As currently constructed, this team will probably go out the same way as they did last year: Play a competitive 1st round series and then lose in round 2 once the fatigue catches up to their old legs again. Even in that scenario, I wouldn't mind taking an early exit so long as the young guys got heavier minutes so we can watch them grow. But I doubt Kerr will play them in any meaningful setting. Kerr has already made it clear with way he has been prioritzing Klay's ego over what is best for the team. It's really hard to watch.

Jacob

Is there a reason why JK and Wiggins can't play more together? I've heard Kerr say that they aren't very compatible. But think of the defense if would bring. We need our high energy guys out there more often.

David Y

I wouldn’t count out GSW against OKC due to their inexperience. It might be alot like the Kings series and the grizzlies series before that but I wouldn’t want to play them in the first round without another team exploiting their weaknesses for Kerr to capitalize on. Im like alot of fans and waiting to see what Timberwolves do in the playoffs because Anthony isn’t their best player every night and KAT/ Rudy have been chokers in the playoffs. Lakers (Id hate to say) would be the most undesirable match up for us. Lebron just knows and studies our tendencies too much.

Offtopic K

Lmfao bruh you don't understand basketball if that's what u think.....u said he starting like he didn't deserve that awhile for now lol, he is starting because he needs to start him, kuminga is being treated differently from every other player on the team. Even when playing well if wiggins plays good that means jk needs to be benched? The proof is in the pudding.......all these games jk has been barley playing in the 2nd half we have lost.....except maybe 1 game but we almost blew that game as well. Stop judging the minutes and judge the game lol we are losing games because of him not playing jk. I dont think anyone would care....even jk if the rotations made sense, but they don't

k fish

The forgotten man..

Athletic Alchemy

I didn’t even think of the BS flood we got hit for lately.. my gawd!

Athletic Alchemy

Yeah I don’t see why anyone would. It’s not like hoops where you can still pull info out of it. Just a pure beat down. Got a move on

Athletic Alchemy

I disagree, his twitter is ALWAYS fishing. Ask yourself this: the team was on a win streak, their chemistry is building fast, it seems like they are turning things around, and the young guys are getting tons of run...why write an article like this at this moment? One thing I've learned is that positivity does NOT get clicks, never has never will...CNN wouldn't exist if it was positive. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this affects the team negatively in some upcoming games, it builds a bad narrative. great job.

A m a r Singg

I like it.. he has stayed quiet long enough. Keep it respectful but say how you feel… Wigs! 👀

Athletic Alchemy

I feel like it is probably a better match up than Min or OKC at this point.. as wild as that sounds

Athletic Alchemy

Nah I was toying with a similar idea.. that he probably had super special holidays as a kid

Athletic Alchemy

Feels like He is leaving them no choice but to part ways.. watch hella crazy stories come out like 10 yr from now

Athletic Alchemy

Since they are not capable in the moment of using logic. Maybe they need to start handing out more post game fines… probably won’t stop the big money guys tho

Athletic Alchemy

MT is not a clickbait guy

Athletic Alchemy

You just combined all their worst traits and wrapped in 1 player 😂

Athletic Alchemy

No, here are Klay's totals the last handful of games: 28,20,24,28,24,30. This is from a guy who has won multiple rings, has a very positive offensive rating due to spacing (who Steph LOVES), and has a reputation for hitting clutch shots. So no, I'd rather not have a coach who is a prisoner of the moment when it comes to proven talent (with unproven talent, sure). This is why Steph closed as well btw, proven talent. BTW, Kuminga -23, Wiggins +18 and much better at the POA..the decision wasn't even difficult. Just more emotional reactions.

A m a r Singg

Kuminga was ASKED questions to provoke that response, he didn't just say it. Thompson had an article to build, and he asked questions pertaining to that. Here are Kuminga's minutes the last few games: 23,30,27,34,19,21,25,28,29....this is as a 21 year old STARTING on a team trying to contend. Do you REALLY think given those minutes (and his awful start to the season), Kuminga is that petulant and immature to just say these things without being provoked with questions framed in a certain way? please, that would be selling the kid very short, and makes him seem unbelievably selfish. this is how modern journalism works, it's about clicks and controversy.

A m a r Singg

Same shit again after we have 5 good games

weng

I heard that the refs unionized over the summer or something and that's why the NBA is so hesitant to get on the refs. Idk if I really believe it cuz the refs have been a problem since forever but if it is true it would explain why it seems like they want to be the stars of about every game in the NBA nowadays.

Shiv

"They lost because Steph and Klay failed to show up in a big game". Considering Klay was off all night on both ends of the floor, doesn't that mean the coaching staff should have left him out of the closing lineup considering he was literally losing us the game, by your logic?

Seb P

You shouldn't just report only what benefits the team, because that's literally biased journalism.

Seb P

Isn't the point of journalism meant to report what's happening? And sports are not comparable to politics, the Warriors winning or losing doesn't affect the environment, foreign policy, taxes, military, etc. That's not a fair comp. I think that if Kuminga said that, that's pretty telling, and as a journalist, you should share it because fans want to know if that's what he's thinking.

Seb P

he treats Kuminga great. been getting tons of minutes for a 20 year old, even more now. and he's now starting. no controversy here.

A m a r Singg

Exactly, if it was up to Steph it would be Klay and Draymond all day above everyone else. Kerr knows this and is trying to accommodate both parties. It's a players' league. "Kerr doesn't want what's best for the team or oganization"...bullcrap conspiracy theory nonsense.

A m a r Singg

the issue is Wiggins and JK don't play well together...at least so far. they are wings who can't dribble or shoot. Their metrics are shit...before the last few weeks, they were both bottom 10 in bpm IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE, not the team, THE ENTIRE LEAGUE. If one of them can shoot around 40%...then maybe

A m a r Singg

Kuminga didn't play because Wiggins was playing better than him, and neither can shoot or dribble. You also need a strong center to deal with Jokic. So you would essentially have Looney, Wiggins, and Kuminga...with no spacing. You could put TJD in there but then you'd have no spacing again, and TJD had 5 fouls (I believe Kerr tried to bring him in at the very end btw). You could put Saric in there but he gets cooked defensively and had already played a lot of minutes in the second half. You could go small with Steph, Klay, Podz, Wiggins, Kuminga...that would be interesting but I doubt it would've worked. Regardless, they didn't lose because of Kuminga or rotations, they lost because Steph and Klay failed to show up in a big game. The timing of this article by emotional imbecile Marcus Thompson is hilarious, what a joke. there is absolutely nothing controversial about the minutes Kuminga has been given as a 21 year old. ridiculous.

A m a r Singg

Watching this made me feel better about my choice not to watch it live. I would have been kicking my TV seeing Klay back to these old habits. The lack of effort is appalling. Miss your shots, okay, that happens. Even bad shots, that's part of the deal with Killer. But if you give up on D, I don't care who you used to be; I don't know you.

Mike Peterson

I never said Kuminga didn't say that, and I don't think he even said anything wrong. I'm questioning the timing and framing of the ARTICLE. It's a controversial topic among the fanbase and he knows what gets people excited and emotional.....to write this type of article when the team is finally find chemistry, giving tons of minutes to young guys, and turning the corner is highly highly suspect. I see this crap all the time in mainstream media (Trump, Russia, etc). He could talk about the increased role of Kuminga...very easily...or how he's improved since starting the season terribly... Or the positive progress the team has made...but nah, positivity doesn't get people excited and get clicks.

A m a r Singg

Kuminga is playing a lot and would've closed if Wiggins wasn't playing so great. They suck on the court together, neither can shoot or dribble. My issue is more with Marcus Thompson trying to create clickbait when the team is finally turning the corner.

A m a r Singg

When have we ever gotten a home whistle?

Nathan Glanzer

Man I love Giannis' game.

Nathan Glanzer

I Feel like that You are really biased regarding Kuminga. Kuminga played 23 minutes in this game and Klay played 32. Klay was trash and Kuminga played really good and could have contributed at the end of the game. Still you don‘t acknowledge that Kuminga should have played at the end of the game - makes no sense for me.

Jakob

pretty hideous game all around by both teams & refs. Was anyone' s game & in the end, denver just wanted it more. Glad to see TJD finish the game

Mikey H

thing is, i truly believe that all steph has to do is say something to Kerr & kerr will change it up

Mikey H

great point. Moody only played 2 and a half minutes in this game, while Klay was trash.

Alex Kay

I totally agree, and proves how manly Giannis is playing with actual contact, no flopping bs.

Alex Kay

GS is the only team who still plays hard fundamental basketball, it appears that Silver wants to exterminate teams like GS, 2010s Spurs, 90s Bulls...i swear once Steph retires, i aint watching the NBA anymore

Naji Zouhari

Agreed. How many times did.klaY drive to the basket? Moody would've at least done that. I wish klay would get to the free throw line

ron burgundy??

Sadly basketball ability includes selling a foul

ron burgundy??

Robert, In what world do you think Klay Thompson is an even trade for Jerami Grant? Grant is an elite wing, Klay is a second stringer with a self centered shooting thirst now. Yes when he gets hot his shot can win a game here and there as with any guy who shoots constantly but Jerami Grant..? If Klay sat the bench on the Warriors we would be better off. He should at best be a second string shooter, something where we can hide his atrocious defense. The league knows what Klay is right now, he has a very low value. Grant is near the opposite end of the value scale right now. Don't get me wrong I'd love Grant, but he will cost..

Russ

Kerr doesn't want what's best for the team or organization, just his core guys and himself. ......when are we going to start calling out Kerr for wasting stephs last chances at a ring? No logic behinds anything he does and at this point I'm not even sure he understands the game of basketball more then trying to get guys to jack 3s

k fish

Man idc about the refs because the game still should of been won. It's tiring and down right wrong how Kerr treats kuminga. He literally doesn't want him to succeed and finds any reason to limit him. So the new thing is now if wiggins plays good then kuminga can't play with him? Like alc said they didn't have an answer for him yet kerr goes back to klay who was playing trash. Kerr has to be fired....idc how the season goes, when it comes to players he likes or dislikes there is no logic in his decisions. Just favoritism and it has hurt the team consistently this year. Pathetic coaching

k fish

But for sure klay and Steph both should’ve sat. But at a minimum klay before Kuminga.

B Master

I think Kuminga just has no filter. But I assume he wasn’t played because he wasn’t doing the job defensively vs this team.

B Master

Until the vets get benched as quickly as the rooks for mistakes and poor play, we’ll continue to have problems with losing games and low morale. Also where do we think Poole picked up his bad habits from? Since we can’t stop talking about him even though he’s long gone, let’s discuss poor impulse control and the chirping at refs for techs (Dray), sullen defensive efforts and horrific shot selection (Klay), and lazy turnovers (Steph). I guess it’s only ok after a certain number of rings. Silly Poole thought it was just one and got crazy.

NN

yes, the refs were engrossed in a hideous round of nugget butt munching tonight but I suppose with Denver playing at home that's to be expected. But we still could have overcome the awful officiating and squeaked by tonight with perhaps as few as 1 or 2 more made threes from a regretfully mediocre looking Steph. But more infuriating was watching Klay resort back to his alter ego, the Warrior slaying Klang. Dude is such a head-case. For two weeks we saw him engaged on defense and looking to get others involved on offense. But after a few consecutive wins complacency has already set in and lured him back to his bad habits, i.e. chucking up gnard-crunching shots and Pool-party defense. That shot that Porter vacuumed up like a Santa Cruz bong-rip was just embarrassing. And Kerr seems to have reloaded the bong himself with that same purple haired indica bud he got from Klay. Kerr's got the "play who's hot" refrain loaded and memorized but after a few wins, he falls asleep at the wheel and the winning formula goes up in smoke. Kuminga and Wiggs (and Trayce!) looked pretty spectacular tonight but JK still got benched for Klang in crunch time. Wiggs, on the other hand, is definitely trending in the right direction which is VERY encouraging! More tough games ahead ... Stay on target Kerr, stay on target Klay! Go Warriors, Go Alch!

Childe Costa

Kind of glad not to re live that niners game, that was rough man...

TGonz510

So you think that a well known journalist completely fabricated Kuminga's quote, potentially jeopardizing his own well-established career and reputation, for a few clicks? Come on now. The odds are much higher that Kuminga just indeed said that.

Seb P

Not surprised to see Klay returning to old habits like Alch said. Saw it coming after the reaction he had to the reporter last game when asked about everyone harping on how good his shot selection has been. Glad Kerr called out the refs. What get's me is, if Steph is gonna get called for flops, then Jokic who essentially moves like flubber and exaggerates any contact outside the paint should get called too. Even worse is how defenders are flopping on our screens to get a call. KCP did it several times and those were correctly no-calls but it was so bad that a flop call should have been made. That game infuriated me to no end Oh and CP's shot contest's are comedic. Bro never makes it to the shooter.. he stops short and jumps like he's doing jumping jacks

AK

what about moody? seeing klay suck and him not gettting minutes is really hard

Andreas Wiedemann

The Kerr over-trust in Klay and the vets shows up in games like this. With Klay, it's simple, if he is not hitting his shots, he has to sit. He offers nothing else. I love Loon, but he looks like he has led in his shoes. Kerr still does not seem to fully trust JK. He may be starting him, but Kerr does not finish games with JK like he is a starter, that's for sure.

Eddie757

Kerr prob knows he ain’t gonna be here next year so he just doesn’t give a fuck

Javig02

Stand on your fucking basketball ability not this trash.

Nathan Glanzer

Idk how it's not flopping calls on Joker every time. Steph can just push his 300 pounds with one arm? Yeah fucking right you piece of shit. Honestly he's lost all my respect. He's no better than Harden. A fat out of shape loser foul baiting bum. Never respecting his game again. Makes me fucking sick. I'd be calling him a pussy on the court every game if I was playing against him.

Nathan Glanzer

Moody is pretty good on ball defender idk wat u are watching

Justus Burns

It's kind of baffling, seeing as how Kerr said that the players playing the best will close games, that Klay was in instead of Kuminga to finish the game. Klay was having a stinker on both ends of the court, Kuminga only got 23 minutes. The combo of Klay and Looney was deadly, no athleticism or rim pressure. Would love to hear Alch and others' thoughts on Kuminga's post game comments regarding inconsistent minutes. Sounds to me like he may want to get traded, cause it's pretty rare for players to gripe about their coach so openly, especially on a road trip where they're travelling on a plane together lol. I personally feel that Podz consistently getting 30+ mins as a rookie may be lighting a fire under Kuminga and Moody, especially considering they've been constantly told to be patient and can't seem to crack 30 mins even when they do everything right.

Seb P

I don’t understand why we need to keep Klay. This team is showing that it doesn’t need Draymond or Klay anymore to be competitive. I think a jerami grant deal for Klay makes too much sense. High level role player, adds size, can play the 3 and the 4. You could play him with Wiggins, kuminga, and of our other bigs. With Steph right now, we need to surround him with length and size, the core of curry, Draymond, and Klay is not good enough anymore. We either move on too early or too late. I’d rather we retool around the only one of the 3 who is elite and actually give a chance for our young guys to step up. Kuminga is ready. I know Wiggins hasn’t been that good recently but a lineup of Steph, Wiggins/podz, Grant, kuminga, and TJD would be insane. Get Draymond the fuck off the team. Trade him to cut salary idgaf.

Robert St.Claire

Look, they aren't going to beat a team like the nuggets on the road without Steph and klay playing well, that's just the NBA. If your team has a chance to win on the road vs the best team in the league with your two best player playing like that, that means your coach has done A VERY GOOD JOB. It's the NBA, you need stars for games like this. Kuminga and Moody (lol) aren't changing that.

A m a r Singg

You would think he would’ve been more receptive than Stern was but he’s taking the league into a worse direction than 5 years ago

Coreyy

He might be right. He is still pushing blame onto others instead of himself and how his team played. He still doesn't give his 3rd years enough opportunity.

Goku44

Yup. There is no controversy, it's Marcus Thompson... He's a clickbait guy who wishes he was a good journalist

A m a r Singg

Kuminga is playing a lot. I don't see any issue or controversy here, just Marcus Thompson trying to get clicks.... He's awful

A m a r Singg

This kerr/ kuminga thing is really absurd

Von Bon

Fully agree with the refereeing takes. No one wants to be the person complaining about refs and calls, but it's just gotten to that point. What makes it more frustrating is that the calls benefit the bigger guys more often than not. Then, we got a 6'3 superstar who doesn't like to sell calls, who still can't get a couple ticky tack calls his way. It's a lose-lose situation for the Dubs when it comes to their relationship with the refs

Christian Oblena

Steve Kerr was right. If you want to keep watching a trash product, go ahead. Kuminga played a lot and Moody is shooting 33% (lol) from 3 as a 3&d wing who isn't a good defender .

A m a r Singg

Hopefully Kerr doesn’t bench him for saying that 😂 but Kuminga is right.

Alaase Shambe

Kuminga was in there with Wiggins near the end, the spacing wasn't great. They aren't very good together, especially to close . If you close with those two and add a center, that's three non shooters. You'd have to add another ballhandler and spacer to make it work

A m a r Singg

Didn't hear that. Nice info!

KendrickTheCreative

Steve Kerr has some nerve blaming the refs when he rotations look old, slow, and tired. Klay is chucking and getting blown up on defense. Looney looks like he sparred 5 rounds with Georges St Pierre while Kuminga sits on his thumbs and Moody checks his instagram on the bench.

Goku44

We gotta trade Klay. His highs aren't worth his lows anymore.

Vincent Zendejas

Christmas games for veteran star players should be prohibited. (I have a deep state theory that Steph might be so used to growing up getting showered with gifts on a day like xmas that he can never get out of his head enough to be a team oriented leader for the holiday. It’s a wild assumption on my part but it feels like the one day a year where he always expected to be catered to instead of be in battle mode)

yan't get right

I really have had this inkling since Dunleavy put the pieces together: but we might have the most impeccable “pure basketball” roster in the league by miles. We have amazing, interchangeable pieces. The only problem is that the “personal timing” of each player may never be aligned enough to see it through. I can’t remember the last time Steph and Wiggins played well in the same outing

yan't get right

Yes I get your point, what I'm saying is that this happened to Klay many times this season, so it would've been better to take him out for Kuminga

Ousmane Diakhaby

Marcus Thompson fishing for clicks trying to create controversy

A m a r Singg

Overall Im ok with the results of the game. I thought we’d potentially be blown out but yeah Jokic is an underrated flopper, players with Kawhi like personalities get away with so much. If we happen to see Denver in a series, the only way I can see us winning is by making Kuminga the CLEAR 2nd option. Denver doesn’t have a true rim protector nor a bench. Denver is prepared to stop players like steph and klay so we need more play time from dynamic guys like Trayce and Kuminga. Overall I feel like we can walk away from this game with our heads held high because we didn’t necessarily look outmatched in my opinion

Offtopic K

That's what I'm saying. Splash Bros needed to show up to beat a team like this. They both didn't, not just Klay

A m a r Singg

Adam Silver sucks ass. Such a great game being ruined

A m a r Singg

Steph is the only reason I really watch anymore. League is in trouble once Steph and LeBron are gone. Adam Silver killed the league

A m a r Singg

Alch great comments on the "Elephant in the Room" you are absolutely correct. These Rock Fight or REFBALL games are impossible to watch. Steph off ball could get a hold call every possession but that never happens and Harden/Embiid/Joker/LeBron get double digit free throws nightly. If Steph EVER got a whistle he would have 2 more chips. Like Kerr said I should have turned off the game and not watched the second half.

Anthony Berry

Did you see the Kuminga quote after the game? "That's where it's confusing. Sometimes, I come out the game not knowing what I did. And that messes with my head. It's like, what they want me to do? I can pass and I can do different sh--."

Jacob

Klay wasn't tho, no defense and no offense

Ousmane Diakhaby

If this team wants to actually compete for a championship and I don't mean be one of 20 favorites for it, they need to find a solution. Steph and Klay have both gotten worse at defending and Klay needs to be replaced with a better defender to stabilize the defense. As for the refereeing, we are seeing some legitimately atrocious reffing vs the Warriors this season.

Julian

Wiggins was even better. Stars decide these games, and our stars didn't show up

A m a r Singg

I’m trying to understand why everyone gets a better whistle than Steph. He gets grabbed off ball, bumped on layups, smacked on shots, people land in his space and he gets nothing. It makes no sense. Big ass Jokic and Embiid can flop all game and they will call a foul every time

Kahlil Baker

Great effort but you're not gonna beat this team with Steph and Klay playing like that. Rotations were good, role players were good, refs were ass. Also, we really really missed Draymond in this game

A m a r Singg

KCP is exactly what this team needs. A defensive guard to replace Klay and put on the the other team's best perimeter player. Low maintenance, big shots when you need it.

Julian

Just sometimes lol?

Julian

Kuminga not playing down the stretch changed the whole game, he was so effective the whole time

Ousmane Diakhaby

Damn, KCP gotta be the most underrated player in the league bro. Huge in EVERY big game. Consistent. Plays his role perfectly. Prob the #1 role player in the league I’d love to have on the dubs.

Sevrin Weiss

I don’t like Klay’s attitude either. He’s so ridiculously defiant in interviews about his shooting it’s hilarious. He is very selfish sometimes.

Paul Hanson

I feel like before this stretch he wouldn’t get pt until late in the game and then have to finish it out because it was so obvious he was the main person creating

A D

One of the quote tweets on Kerr’s rant about the refereeing was from Sam Amico and MAAAAAANNNNNN was he right. The league thinks viewers want to see NBA 2K when, in fact, that the furthest thing from the truth. The league has almost outlawed defense and rewarded flopping, WHICH IS IRONIC CONSIDERING WE GOT TWO FLOPPING TECHS LITERALLY OUR LAST GAME. Steph saying there needs to be more consistency with the referees is dead on cuz how many times does Steph get held and grabbed worse than what happened to Jokic yesterday but refs just look at Steph and say “Wallahi buddy ball up 🤷🏾‍♂️”

Coreyy

The refs definitely robbed us of a good second half. Murray, KCP and Porter Jr were rolling and our young guys plus wiggs were going and yet we had to watch a foul line parade on xmas. Rough watch but hey this "new version" of the warriors looks good and looks like it can compete with the best of them.

Matt Hanna

niners and warriors losing the same day. at least i got new socks and a toolbox for christmas

Sothea Ry

Did you know kuminga is 2nd in 4th scoring lol.do you know how insane that.the kid doesn’t play the 4th really.Them vets need to figure that shit out because Kerr is not gonna play him

mr.bean

75% of Jokic fouls were ticky Tac refs don’t fw the Dubs

Joemilll -

This game from the middle of 3rd was just eyecancer for any Basketball Fan in the world. Such a forced whistle win, really.

Christian Wawer

klay fucking stinks - dude is so emotiona and can't handle any criticism or change for the better. He and steph r just atrocious on defense and huge liabilities - not a championship roster might as well trade the vets and play with steph + the young guys

Alex Lee

Worst officiating all year. I'm sick of watching games, man.
