I sure hope so. I mean, no disrespect to CP3, but we can't afford small and old right now, we really can't. It was likely all along that we'd trade him, which is why I'm pissed at Draymond for running his mouth about getting him his first ring... but what else is new, Dray is Dray. And he's probably going to clock somebody or get ejected the moment he gets back in a game just to prove my point.

😭

Lon TheThird

I can picture kerr scratchin his skin like a heroin addict hearin that

Mikey H

And as for the argument that we weren't winning, that's an argument in FAVOR of taking a risk on players like Mood, not against it. We weren't winning ANYWAY, even when we played the vets and stars who "deserved" the play time". It wasn't to "coast", it was to try and actually WIN some of these games against young, big teams against whom CP3, Wiggs, Loon, and Klay just weren't able to defend, due to age, small size, being out of shape, or out to lunch like Klay. Play the people who are actually demonstrating they're keeping up with the pace, playing with effort and competitiveness, etc. That OKC game was a PRIME example, where Mood was literally keeping us in the game with hot shooting and was on a roll, and Kerr just fucking yanks him because his "quota" of minutes was up. I'm STILL mad about that.

Neal X

Most rosters aren't as old as ours with 2 small star guards both older than 35 who can't really defend, and no true big man (for what, like the 3rd straight year? I've lost count). We can't be compared easily to anyone else. Look, there are things Kerr can't be blamed for, how was he supposed to expect that Loon, Wiggs, Klay, and Draymond would ALL end up being no-shows in some way or another? It's a really tough hand to be dealt. GP2 got injured but that's to be expected at this point, dude plays with no brakes. So how can you have a player like Moody who has SHOWN that he can be a lockdown on-ball defender with good perimeter closeouts, great energy, and shooting potential, and not play him at least a LITTLE more? In view of our unique circumstances and roster imbalances, it's just taken way too long to see a willingness to adjust or try new things.

Neal X

Thinking back to Denver, pretty ridiculous that when Steph and CP share the court Steph is often the ball handler and CP is off ball. Literally makes no sense considering their all time skill sets being the other way around

Seb P

But why does Moody need point guard skills when he's a 3 & D wing, who has shown that he can occasionally put the ball on the floor and create his own shot? Why is it so important for the dubs, but not other teams, to field at least two players in every lineup with PG skills while neglecting other characteristics like length or defensive versatility? We have Steph Curry, CP3 and Draymond, I don't understand this mindset that players should only play if they have point guard skills. There are other qualities that are just as important, if not more important, like defense, shot creation, athleticism, etc.

Seb P

Without knowing contracts and rules, I’d love to see Cade as a 2 DeRozen type for teams w quick/dominant 1’s like SAC, MEM, NYC, CLE, DEN… His 3 ball will keep improving.

Chip Tingle

I love MoMo, but taking a look around the league, do you see an example of what you're describing, younger players getting 5 minutes of HOF/$30mil vets" 27 backup minutes? Who is a comparable example of what you're describing when looking around the league? Most rosters don't have a backup HOF/$30mil dude to even compare. Add that the team isn't winning to be able to "coast" a bit by using minutes this way. What if MoMo had Podz' skill set, especially PG skills??? Harsh realities and choices for all.

Chip Tingle

Maybe a step or two above CoJo? He's never been at Connely's level.

Chip Tingle

According to ESPN, CP was averaging 27.6 min this season. I'm of course aware that CP has been good for us OVERALL, but my comment wasn't an indictment of him but of Kerr's mindset, that he's revealed in not just this one comment but others. He just clearly seems to have very inflexible views of who should be playing and why, an inflexible view of "seniority pecking order", and an inflexible view of positions. He won't play Wiggins or Kuminga together because they both play the same "position", and he won't play Mood likely for the same reason, but Klank Thompson was always getting 30 minutes a night, even when his defensive effort in so many games was just immediately bench-worthy. And he doesn't seem to understand that by DNP-ing players who have potential, they're never going to get better without the reps. Maybe Mood could have BUILT more skills if he got regular play time, even like 5 minutes a night. There's no substitute for actual game-minutes to get better, practice and drill only takes you so far, that much I know.

Neal X

Naahhhh I think it's just Kerr is really set in his ways. He has a very inflexible view of positions, roles, and seniority. For him there's a "pecking order". The thing that makes it really sus though is Podz -- Kerr's given a blank check to a small rookie guard to play every night, while Mood got multiple DNPs despite how good of a defender he can be and he's been with us longer. That has GOT to sting the ego, even though no one will argue Podz can't be effective. But then also remember that he sat Podz in the 4th in favor of CP3 in the Denver loss... So no, it's not favoritism or something sinister with Kerr, he just doesn't have the right approach.

Neal X

I also thought he was Wiggins at first, lol

Neal X

Watch cade in the 4th quarter of this game: https://youtu.be/yYFU4AFFOjc He takes over even though they lose

joss gitlin

I’m saying!

Athletic Alchemy

I hear you, one thing you have to consider is staggering the shot creation/ scoring.. that second unit might not be able to score

Athletic Alchemy

The kitchen sink for Garland 💀

Athletic Alchemy

It’s being discussed no doubt

Athletic Alchemy

They had Cojo!

Athletic Alchemy

Can we make a trade with Cavs for Craig Porter Jr? This kid is special

Natto Santo

Why not?

Captain Rossco

I’d like to see DET add a vet PG similar to Connely, see what happens. Fewer mistakes with that quick, young core, Cade at 2 instead.

Chip Tingle

Saw some of their Celts game in BOS, have the same feeling. Most teams w that record wouldn’t play that hard, fall apart in locker room. Gotta look up Stewart - wa happen? Stud!

Chip Tingle

Kerr Bas…Terrorism? Hyperbole much? He played them together like he said he would, despite the metrics, and I agree, I wanna see JK/WIGGS/DRAY/STEPH/KLAY as potential closing 5 if they can find it together. Potentially leathal on D! I wish Wiggs was better passer/ball handler, JK getting better, Klay too.

Chip Tingle

Trendy comment, but as much as I didn’t like the acquisition, CP3 has been really good, especially leading the bench unit. Maybe you’re being a little too literal w Kerr’s 30 comment in the midst of a feeding frenzy? Let’s go check his minutes up to now, guessing 25-30. MoMo doesn’t have PG skills to play more often, gets passed up by Podz, CoJo. I’d love to see him play PG all off season(s) to add to his career, cover 1, 2, or 3.

Chip Tingle

I’d like to see him at SG more than PG. I like his mid/paint game kinda like DeRozen, and he’s a tough cover w his size. Next to Brunson??? Gotta watch his D more.

Chip Tingle

Honestly during the game, there was a play where I was confused whether it was Kuminga or Wiggins for a second.

yoshi

Great comment

yan't get right

LOL - switch locker rooms at the half. Is there any way to swing trades for Siakam and a big?

Windfury

You do know Celtics had to go to OT to beat this team, don't you?

Mike Gonzalez

Ahahahaha that’s awesome

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

What if the dubs big deadline trade was for a point guard??? Storm Chase center?? 🔱🔱🔱

Mikey H

lol

Bereket Berhanu

Kuminga chopped his hair off hoping Kerr can't tell him and Wiggins apart and would keep him on the floor. I see you JK 😂

Branden Edwards

That just isn't realistic

Branden Edwards

My opinion is the starting lineup should be based on merit, so: Podz, Curry, Kuminga, Saric and TJD. Then have Dray off the bench and let him earn his minutes back. With the terrible energy and chemistry we've been going through, Kerr needs to make a statement that this team is built on merit, no more legacy/vet bullshit.

Captain Rossco

There’s that little part of me as well that feels like Kerr doesn’t want Kuminga or Moody to go off in order to validate himself lol. Maybe I’m wrong but I’m just tired of the stubbornness.

Luke Zhang

Nicely put

Stevie Ray

Nice prediction, hadn't seen that one yet, The odds are not in his favor

Stevie Ray

I don't have much to say about the Warriors. We're just mediocre and will continue being that way with this group until a move happens. I am curious to hear everyone's (And Alch's) thoughts on Cade. When I watch him play, he's kinda....mid? There's no elite trait that stands out watching him play. He doesn't have an elite first step, nor elite strength, nor elite vision or an elite jump shot. He's a jack of all trades, master of none kind of player. Now that atrocious Detroit roster isn't helping his cause at all. But even then, I see more of 2nd/3rd option on a contending team rather than a true lead #1 guy.

Jacob

Ive watched a handful of piston games recently to see if they really that bad. They usually hang pretty well w good teams till the last 5 or so mins in the game. Then they completely fall apart. Not justifying the dubs play last night. just that thats kinda how they roll

Mikey H

lol ive aged like 5 years watching this season

Mikey H

worst case - without a couple big moves at the deadline, they aint contenders. So, i don't see the downside of letting the man develop Best case- yeah, i love kuminga's energy & game. let him play, can't be worse than what's goin on now. If they tryin to make any kind of run, they gonna need him

Mikey H

agree. lets see how kerr handles it tho. he was sayin more mins for cory joe. u know he's gonna try lol

Mikey H

I saw that too. He was sympathizing with his pain. And also that man was getting him his next contract (not Kuminga as was the hope early in the season)

Gary

Brilliant comment. Social support for all the over 30s on this team

Gary

We had Burcs during the 15 win season. Tank commander

Gary

Would love bogdanovic or alec burks on our team! Wouldn’t expect them to cost much either

Offtopic K

Kerr said something very revealing in his interview about CP3 -- he said that yes, absolutely Moody and others would be able to play now, because that's "30 minutes a night" that has to go to other people now. The fact that he said 30 minutes were the assumption for how much CP3 gets to play in the first place shows that Kerr does indeed believe that his "star veterans" just automatically deserve that much playing time, whether it's appropriate to play them or not. That's NOT the approach he should be taking -- the entire philosophy this season with a bunch of old players was to spread the load, not make sure all of the people over 30 get 30. With so many old guys on the roster, it makes much more sense to think about REDUCING all their minutes collectively, including Steph, to keep them healthy and rested. Instead here we are halfway through the season, and Steph and Looney habitually look gassed, Klay has shown some spurts of defensive energy, but how long is it sustainable (and still shooting like ass generally), and the young guys are pissed off and frustrated. Imagine where we could have been if Moody and others had been getting more and consistent minutes from right out the gate? I have to conclude this HAS been a huge misstep in overall approach from Kerr.

Neal X

why Dario looking at CP like that lol

Mikel anthony

I don’t think we can make conclusions in 1 stint. But I am of the belief play them until they figure it out. I don’t buy the either or thing.

Athletic Alchemy

Kerr should go all in for development. This team is what it is. A team like Denver would probably run over these Pistons.

Francisco Hazel

Alch posted this on Discord but wondered if you could comment on it. Rewatching the game and did it for the specific reason that I see right now. With 5:19 left in the 2nd quarter Podz leaves after the KUPCHAK. Detroit 33/Dubs 32. Klay/Chef/TJD/Wiggs/JK. Trayce 2 dunks in a row when Steph and Klay are doubled. Chef fouled on a 3. Made all 3 at the line. JK backs down Burks for a 7 foot J. Steph 15 foot J. Klay fucks up the rebound and they get a bunny. Steph hits a 3 on an offensive rebound. 2:39 Detroit TIMEOUT. Dubs 46/ Detroit 37. 14-4 run with my preferred lineup. So this redundant JK/Wiggs don't work together is KERR BASKETBALL TERRORISM. CP put back in for JK to the half and we end up 50/46 at the half. So give up a 9-4 run with JK out and CP in.

Anthony Berry

Was that CP's last game in a Warriors uniform?

Macca

That would be a sign of defensive mistakes/inadequacies.

B Master

Man, if we could get Klay as a + defender, that would be SO HUGE for us.

John Pettus

Truth

John Pettus

I think no CP does help us. He still on the bench with his voice and knowledge. But he shouldn't have been starting or playing 30 minutes. This will be better for our rotations especially when Dray comes back.

Nathan Glanzer

What are your thoughts on Kuminga. Should he be getting more minutes?

Shaun Ting

Every time there’s a transition offense without JK, I’m just like, uh oh, they’re gonna turn it over.

Apple

If we keep getting this klay, we will be fine

weng

So excited we beat the worst team in the league ... barely. Go warriors

Tyler Durden

LETS GO KLAY!!

yan't get right

It's like clockwork every game though, some nobody has the game of their career against us haha.

Nathan Glanzer

I swear every game I watch live gives me a heart attack.

Nathan Glanzer

Hell yeah
