There was one possession where he had Steph on him and tried to back him down for like 2 seconds before he passed it back out. His teammate passed it back to him to tell him to go again but he did the same thing and passed it out again.

Mike Brown used to be up and coaching the defense a lot, and Kenny doesn't seem to be as defensively engaged. I think Alc's main point though was that Kenny doesn't seem to plug up the gaps in Kerr's coaching style nearly as well as Mike did, they seem to be very similar in how they think about the game.

But honestly, Beli was a lot more adept at using his size on defense than Dario, even though he was bulkier. I swear it was like Dario was born without any fast-twitch muscles man.

And it’s easy to forget this is like his 7th year in the league, Kuminga can def be better than him at that stage of his career. Tbh Lauri looked kinda soft yesterday getting stood up by our guards, playing like a tall finesse wing.

Maybe it’s the subconscious connection with his Dad who was a Center but regardless it’d be good for Klay at this point in his career to take Trayce under his wing and mature as a mentor for the next generation

I will say, for Utah, when you brought up Lauri needing a PG, I realized they haven't been the same since they traded away Mike Conley at the deadline and they haven't really done anything to replace him. Aside from maybe Kris Dunn, none of their guards are true PGs and don't set up their offense well. Meanwhile, Minnesota turned things around as soon as they swapped out DLo for Conley at the same deadline. Conley may not put up big numbers, but his teams always seem to win wherever he goes. Clearly the Jazz are still missing that.

If you enter someone's landing space from further away, it means you were coming at them faster, to cover more ground, and thus it's *harder* for you to stop your forward momentum or adjust your angle of approach. If you're closer to them, it's literally *easier* to not step into their landing space or adjust your contest angle. So by the refs own logic, they are saying "even though it was objectively *easier* for you not step into their landing space --- and you did it anyway --- we are not going to charge you with that foul, because...???" There isn't a sentence that makes sense after that unless you're dancing on a table drinking out of upside down teapots wearing nonsense fractions on your hat.

They really look like the Warriors of old, where many games seem Rucker-like, the ball flying around, everyone laughing and having fun, seemingly effortless. If they hadn’t missed a bucketful of layups this would have been over in the 3rd quarter.

2024-02-13 20:10:51 +0000 UTCTJD always sells out to block the person going to the rim, not a bad thing, but I've seen other teams take advantage of that and pass to the person he was supposed to be covering for an easy layup or dunk. Jazz didn't take advantage of that last night and it worked out for us, but other well coached teams are going to do that. I'm not completely mad at Kerr for sitting him most of the time.
