Kerr gotta pull Dray when he playing like this.. this ain't years pass, we deep and we got the perfect backup for him... Andersen

Chaz G

I hear you. But I was mentally balancing Hield’s above average shooting with Steph and others being below average.

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

What happened to our 12 man rotation. Kerr benched Slomo at halftime. So, 11. Curry got hurt, 10. Draymond self-benched, 9. See, we only had a 9 man rotation at the end. Perfectly manageable. Lindy doesn’t exist to Kerr because he wasn’t in the rotation. Just subbed him in at the end because Kerr threw in the towel.

BruceWayne

Buddy lookin like Klay of last year with those off-balance drifting threes … 🤦‍♂️

Run CTM

Great break down we gotta be better Steph needs to switch the shoes, jk needs some hydration because he thirsty for 3’s, Wiggins looking good let’s see what happens later today strength is n numbers is in full affect

Static2Fresh

For sure. We know the front office was interested in getting a big man, they just came up empty. But they've come up empty for a long time now, about time we got lucky.

Neal X

Draymond was just a dumbass most of the game. He remains a turnover machine, he gets older but never learns. When he feels neglected and not the center of attention it seems he just chucks the ball into the stands via a shin or deflection.

Russ

Kuminga needs to play inside-out not Outside-In

Omer Ali

I guess it’s time to see how deep this team really is against good competition

Edy

Well if that’s how they manage things then he’ll be back too soon and injured again for longer.

B Master

you right.. I guess Im just immune to it at this point

Athletic Alchemy

True and they're also missing Trey Murphy, but Jordan Hawkins has been lights out to start the season, and obviously can't forget about CJ, BI & Zion.

Nick Elliston

Dray dont start acting right we finally got insurance on him

Athletic Alchemy

someone of Steph's status he makes that decision tbh

Athletic Alchemy

Wiggins is my spirit animal

Andrew Lee

lol facts.. I do think they thought is "team defense" at the rim.. but shit

Athletic Alchemy

Pels down Murray.. lets see!

Athletic Alchemy

Thats the interesting thing for the first time ever we actually have a guy who can play Draymonds role.. sounds like Melton is out now too sheeesh

Athletic Alchemy

what i didn't liked of this game is that is kind of easy for any competitive team to stop the Ws offense... maybe i am biased, but i feel that way since the last 2 seasons...

Claudio Cesar Esteffan Sepulveda

I missed it, after the second steph roll I was out of pocket NGL

Athletic Alchemy

nah they are going to be a nuisance all year

Athletic Alchemy

I think UA put all their eggs in one basket with that foam and Steph doesnt have a choice.. but yeah the kobes or recent lebrons are stability kings

Athletic Alchemy

It’s up to Stack & Stotts (not “Stouts,” @Alch!) to get in Kerr’s face about it. Hope they will.

deb m.

he is stuck in between rn

Athletic Alchemy

yup!

Athletic Alchemy

it is Luke.. its is...

Time for Melton and Podz to show it on the court in Steph’s absence. Anyone have a reliable workaround for LA blackouts of Clips/Lakers?! Dubs fans need you!!! Clips’ game looked normal and sustainable for them, nothing crazy or unusual, just damn solid. I still have to trust that JK settles and finds his sustainable role, but this is tough to watch, especially his team D which is so much mental/feel/instincts. Behind the curve as a late starting kid in the game. We all know Buddy will be targeted on D. Help has to be locked in. Thoughts on Loon getting start & more minutes against real bigs? I’m seeing a lotta teams in need of bench depth as potential trade partners as this plays out. Maybe Chef going out early means those decisions come earlier? Continued gratitude onya, Alch!

Chip Tingle

I'm as high and excited as anybody about how this season has gone so far. But the Portland/Utah games look entire different if Buddy Hield is just semi-human. So, I hope this isn't the case, but a mixture of the quality of play by the opponents, matchups against our style, and the unconscious onslaught Buddy put on the Blaze and Jazz may have created an illusionary state for the fanbase...myself included. But like I said after the first game - we're too small AND too thin in our front court rotation.

Stevie Ray

Aside from the Seph injury, what really pissed me off this game was us getting called for 3secs in the key when there were multiple possessions with Zubac literally just standing in the paint. Easy to be a defensive juggernaut when that rule doesn't apply to you. And to Draymond, he just looked disinterested. Body language was off most of the game and there was a shot of he and JK on the bench talking ... and it was JK doing all the talking with 0 input from Draymond. All around weird game. Now everyone is out injured. lmao, crazy

AK

Clippers just beat Denver the other night who admittedly don't look great but still idk why everyone thought they'd be in the lottery without Kawhi, they did a pretty good job filling out their roster after PG left. So I'm not that upset about the loss even though the typical frustrating turnovers. Hoping Wiggs can continue to cook and gain confidence with Steph out, and Podz and Kuminga can get a rhythm. Both of them seem like they need the ball a bit to find a rhythm. But Kuminga's defense lapses are starting to get irritating, he doesn't seem to do anything on that end with urgency. But yeah everything about Under Armour is just absolute ass from the performance to the marketing. Might be Steph's biggest fumble of his career

Luke Zhang

Did that win you the game? Same amount of rebounds this game, AND he was allowed to iso and put up shots that he didn’t make, something Kuminga is much better at, Pods is empowered to do what he’s good at and what he’s not good at, an opportunity Kuminga has not gotten.

Sarcasm 360

Kerr benched Anderson last night. Didn’t reconsider, or maybe even think about reconsidering after Draymond benched himself when Steph went out. Today, he’s listing him as one of the team’s primary ball handlers with Steph and Melton out. 🤷🏻‍♂️

BruceWayne

Thank you my friend

Calum Stapleton

Alch. I had the same video issue with League Pass on YouTubeTV. Regarding JK. Everyone else on the team should catch and either pass it or shoot the 3 within half a second. JK should catch and either pass or pressure the rim within half a second

SAOpp

Those guys don't grow on trees

John Pettus

Am I wrong to assume Steph must like the shoes? He IS Underarmour so he must have been a part of the design and testing right? I think the Kyries or Kobes would serve him very well. Kobes were always my favorite, especially the adidas ones when he was #8. Those kicks lasted forever and I even wore them to outdoor hoops camps.

Grizzly Thief

yeah, it's like enabling them to be a quick draw is a great long term psychological strategy but it can really burn us in the short

yan't get right

Tbh, Derrick Jones Jr. and Zubac are two of the best "emerging vet" stories in the league right now. DJJ known as a in-between just-dunker early in his career is probably gonna be a coveted Hustle&D wing for at least the next 6-7 years. He'll get paid. Especially if he can improve his 3-point shot. And Zubac was always one of the most interesting Laker choices in the last 10 years, now proving he can be a really good traditional center in a weird era. He's only gonna get better. Add in Kris Dunn fighting for his life, Harden with a chip on his shoulder and Ty Lue + Van Gundy and the Clips might actually be the coolest team in the league from a pure hustle and execute basketball perspective.

yan't get right

You do realise that Pods gets more rebounds than Kuminga right? That's another hole in Kuminga's game. The problem is not Pods over Kuminga but that Kuminga is not good enough.

Alex Kay

Amen. Kerr has terrible feel for who is hot and who is hot garbage in a particular game. Meanwhile it's obvious to the opposing coach, to everyone watching at home, and even, god-help-us, to Fitz. Draymond should have been yanked Q1 - he had zero energy from the jump. Buddy struggled with the matchup - that's gonna happen, but you have to recognize it while it's happening and not wait to review the film. Steve sticks to the scripted minutes no matter what hell unfolds on the court.

Mike Peterson

What 12 man rotation? Draymond was ass and no Slow-mo Buddy Hield was cold, no Moody or Lindy Waters. They abandoned the rotation the first sight of trouble.

Alex Kay

Totally agree on Slow-mo. If Draymond is so bad he can clearly take some of his minutes.

Alex Kay

Draymond didn’t want to be out there and quit playing. 🤦‍♂️

BruceWayne

When Kerr was asked about Draymond sitting down the stretch, I thought he said, it wasn’t about an injury, he just “went with the guys who were playing well”. That sounded like a thunderclap to me, but no commentator has mentioned it so maybe I misheard…?

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

Steph sustained a left peroneal strain and will be reevaluated on Friday, missing at least 2 games Melton has a strained lower back and will miss the next 2 games Wiggins also has a lower back strain and is questionable Leaving the injury updates behind, considering the roster is so deep, I would like to see Kerr give Moody more minutes or try out Waters when Buddy is cold. They are both better defenders, so I don’t really see a downside when Buddy isn’t scoring. I would have said give Melton more minutes if Buddy isn’t feeling it, but after the news on the back strain, I’d say it’s best to not rely on him With Steph and Melton both out, there should be no reason Moody cannot get 25 minutes. I would consider giving minutes to Waters as well. And Podz better bring his A game, he hasn’t shot the ball particularly well since preseason. If Wiggins is ruled out, Kuminga needs to look to be aggressive and drive instead of hunting the 3 like you said. If Draymond plays like he did yesterday in the next few games, give his minutes to Slo-Mo. I would like to see Looney’s minutes be higher or be starting against centers like Zubac. TJD doesn’t have the finesse to finish around centers like Zubac. Last thing, Kerr has to stop with the 4 guard lineups, especially when you’re not shooting well. Overall though, I’m optimistic since they kept it as close as they did with all the turnovers (especially the lazy and easy to read passes), their bad shooting, and Draymond’s nonexistence in the game. Last year, it would’ve likely been a blowout.

Edy

Just not our night tonight. Clips were making their shots and playing tough defense, while the Dubs kept turning the ball over and had no answer for Zubac. As for Steph, Shams tweeted shortly before this breakdown was posted that Steph sustained a left peroneal strain and will be re-evaluated on Friday. Dubs also announced that Melton suffered a strained lower back (supposedly around when he airballed that 3pt shot late in the game) and will also be reevaluated on Friday, meaning they'll be without Steph & Melton for the Tuesday-Wednesday baseball series vs NOP. Now's the time to see how that depth fares.

Nick Elliston

I throwup in my mouth a bit everytime I see one of our guards try to have a foot in the paint as they help off the strongside corner. Maybe they could stay home if we had actual rim protection. Does Kerr think he has a roster full of guys with the footspeed of '06 Wade? Somebody make it make sense.

Andre Brooks

I'm not sure why I ever questioned whether we really needed a true skilled 7 footer on this team, especially after watching the Olympics and seeing how important size was all the way through it.

Neal X

No comment on Draymond benching himself during crunch time, as soon as Curry went out? What’s he doing if he can’t be on the floor in a 1 pt game?

BruceWayne

would've had no problem with that loss if steph hadn't got injured. I can't believe NBA teams are so stupid as to let players play after they've obviously just been injured so they make it worse and are out for longer. I know it's steph's choice in the moment but obviously they should've stopped him. It really didn't matter if we won or lost that game.

B Master

JK is getting a lot of slander, I see why but kerr isnt helping him. He starts with two non-shooters, there isnt space to attack. He either needs to come off the bench or play with the second unit more where there's more spacing n gaps for him to get thru. Also, slow-mo gotta play more. He been a warrior killer for half a decade, now we have him n he's playin less than 4 mins??

JW

Well hey Im glad we can blow out tanking teams by 40 pts right???? Geezus the very first game with a real center and an actually good team, and we look like a goddamn mess. The obvious silver lining is Wiggins. But now we have to anticipate Wiggins being the #1 option for the next month. Has Wiggins ever been able to play that role? We'll see. It doesnt appear to be a confidence issue for Kuminga. He's clearly still pressing. But like. Is it safe to say that Kuminga's trade value is only DECLINING?? We need a big. And BAD. I was hoping TJD mightve learning something in the off season about going up against true bigs. But nope. Zubac still owns us and him. I dont give a crap about the 12 man rotation. You canNOT succeed in this western conference without a big. And we are seemingly the only non-tanking team that DOESNT have a true big. Those good vibes lasted all of what, 72 hrs? What the fuck was Draymond's problem this game? How is already gonna look checked out in game 3?????? Wiggins playing well is great. But the rest of this game just pissed me the fuck off. And Curry will never change his shoes.

Jansen E

You've been on those flimsy shoes from day 1, Unc. The brand needs to address these issues ASAP

Russell Owens

Not too mad at this, one thing I will say is lets not fall in love with buddy and give other opportunities when he's struggling.

MaxShade18

Lindy only getting 1 minute was ridiculous. Not looking for him on offense was even more ridiculous.

BruceWayne

Ok playing Buddy 28 mins while he was not hitting shot is criminal and the same problem we had last year with Klay. I think this is a systemic issue of Kerr and the team believing the value of a guy who is guarded like a shooter without making shot vs a guys who can shoot but it's not a pure shooter. The problem with Playing Hield and Klay last year just because their reputation as shooter is that that's all they gonna provide and they still gonna shoot us out of the game. This ideology is probably also why so many random guys go off against us as the team think they cannot shoot well enough to make us adjust the defense just because they don't have reputation of a shooter. Overall, I'm really annoyed with this playing a shooter when they are not making shot just because teams will guard them. That argument should only apply to steph on this team. Everyone else, play the guys who is playing well and making shots

Viet Huy Vu

I wore Curry's one time to hoop in and nearly blew my shit out. Couldn't pay me to play in them again

Branden Edwards

Wiggs! Love to see it.

motrip

Looking back here on Monday I had this second rant; really against Pods getting more minutes than Kuminga when the team was STILL struggling to rebound AND create offense, this isn’t a Pods vs Kuminga thing because they don’t play the same position. However Kerr empowers Pods to go make mistakes while Kuminga does a good job this game and still gets yanked until the 4th quarter panic minutes, and lets Heild force up that many shots while Moody can’t be allowed to get burn until (guess what?) 4th quarter panic minutes. Pods did what he normally does to impact the game and Heild tried to do what he does to impact the game, but it wasn’t what the team needed to win the game and Kerr couldn’t figure out how to use his other personnel. I’ve seen the young guys grow but it’s Kerr who hasn’t.

Sarcasm 360

I have two big rants here; So last breakdown here I talked about the yanking without communication, guess what Kerr did this game. With Kuminga giving the best rebound effort out on the floor, with buddy going 3 for 11 and Kuminga looking more in rhythm, what does Kerr do? Bench him while the bench struggles to find offense and rebound, pulled Wiggins while he was hot too. Kuminga did what he was supposed to do, just like moody he found ways to contribute, and Kerr benched him while throwing 4 guards and Draymond on court. This is the ceiling right here if you don’t empower Moody and Kuminga. These are the Kerr habits that will kill the season.
