JK can play 3 and wiggs 2.
Wiggs is a super talent who has always been soft or gentle.
We have not even released JK Chocolate Thunder with LBJ speed, yet we see when he is encouraged to be him, he can dominate.
Make the adjustment Kerr. Steph with 2 slashers - 1 (Wiggs) flare to the 3 nature who can attach of of same secondarily, and the other (JK) natural attacking style like we know LBJ can with 3 option secondary.
This offense with Dray and either TJD or Looney Tunes (no negative) to anchor the boards.
The league ain't ready for that.

Now we talk Akc,
Unleash the Leopard.
JK is a beast and as I said, Kerr needs to just focus on his strengths and it takes care of rhe weaknesses.
This come of the bench Buddy style shooting 3s first matched wil prime Klay defence is absolutely ridiculous for a total starting minutes of effectively half a year in his 4th year.
Thats criminal.
Yet No Steph, No Dray, and effectively No Buddy yet the Leopard took over.
Mr Clutch behind Steph.
Nothing soft about JK when Kerr stop getting in the 22 year old head.
We always talk about our youth (JK, Moody,, TJD, Podski) inconsisterly but thats mainly because Kerr getting in their heads too much. Let them play. No body plays their best when they under constant pressure to be perfect since on sticky tack miss queue would sit the the rest of the game.
Proud of JK and da youts dem.
Now if only Kerr would liiisten to his eyes and ego, and realized he has what he is searching for right under his nose. Kerr needsbto adjust his system to suit his best players as he did when he first reach than forcing 19 and 20 year Olds with no real minutes play out of character.
If Kerr wanted different he should have drafted that style of players.
Proud of the youth because that's the most energy I have seen in a longtime and the way Steph and Dray lauched out of their shoes to bless JK speaks volumes.
Kerr need to choose Wisely or step aside as he is waisting Steph 5 year window for more chipssssss.

Who can we play other than Moody (or Lindy) that raises our ceiling via their potential? They need to play consistently to know what they are... Also, Moody's splits this year are not terrible. He's shooting over 37% from 3. Also, given his natural abilities ie that wingspan, he can actually be a solid defender but he needs more reps to properly distance manage since it varies per match up. Crazy how defensive people get when you say TJD, JK and Moody should play more LOL

If kuminga can hit that 3 more and rebound, I think the Steph, wiggins, kuminga, draymond, TJD or loon lineup can work.
The issue with this team rn is that kuminga will decide the ceiling, but I don’t see how he doesn’t take away from draymond. I would love for draymond to lessen the ball handling, be in the dunkers spot or hitting open 3s more.

Yeah, but draymond is the entire defensive system. It goes both ways. He’s the true weapon on defense where Steph has limitations. So him being a point forward on offense is crucial to the whole thing working. It’s a perfectly mutual situation. And why it makes it hard to play them separately. But I agree that they will have to learn to sooner than later

I think there’s a bigger conversation around the modern concept of “floor general” and it ironically starts with Steph because he obliterated the PG category with his innovative play style. But BP is 100% a floor general and you can tell because he plays like shit whenever he doesn’t have control of the ball. And in today’s era you don’t ever see someone who’s like that because they have to shoot the lights out like #30 to be considered a point guard. Like, Westbrook is a hall of fame floor general despite being a brick from long distance. Being a PG is traditionally just being the true micro-manager on the floor with a bunch of trigger happy wings and bigs. BP is definitely cut from that

I think you're dramatically underestimating the covariance of how well Steph plays with Draymond vs without him.
As well as underestimating the effect Draymond has on winning.
John Pettus
2024-12-07 00:57:52 +0000 UTC

2024-12-07 00:52:56 +0000 UTC
I have been very hard on JK, and he's still terrible from the neck up, but I was really glad to see him have a good game. I just don't love that for him to go off, you have to run the offense AROUND HIM. He's not Steph. He's not Joker. He's not Kawhi. He doesn't elevate those around him, so it's very risky to base your offense on him.
But this is the first good sign of growth from JK this year. If we're going to contend, he HAS to keep growing. And he needs to be able to grow when he's not the focus of the offense.

Any chance Dray ever comes off the bench to give JK 30 mins a night, Dray close at 5 if necessary?

Moody played 20+ minutes in this game, 1-5 from 3. He's had chances to show something but often doesn't. I agree we have no choice but to play him 20+ minutes for right now because he fits the mold of an effective 3 and D wing, but he needs to uh, actually hit 3's and play D.

I know you're implying Kuminga, but Wiggins has played with force pretty much every game this season. Kuminga never seems to "own" the possession - whereas Wiggins will often take leadership and basically say "this possession is for ME one way or the other". At the very least it's not nearly as clear as you're suggesting.

I worry that the team just isn’t big enough for JK & Draymond.
On the one hand, Draymond is a legend, is still formidable, and contributes more to winning right now.
But if JK has true potential, it seems like organizational malpractice to ship him because he doesn’t fit with a 34-year old undersized big man with a bad back.
Ejikeme Uzoigwe

If you can’t play Kuminga with Dray, then play Draymond for 25 minutes and Kuminga the other 23 plus 5 minutes to close the game with Draymond at center. That JK is getting below 20 minutes is a problem.

Not only did Kuminga show he could finish over one smaller defender, he finished over TWO smaller defenders! Now what is that going to look like with Steph setting the screen instead of Wiggins? If we see another crunch-time game without JK in the closing lineup, somebody in the coaching staff needs to get fired! think it's time Steph takes a page from Lebron's playbook and learn to defer.
You are right about Draymond and Steph recognizing JK as a closing weapon but it's mainly on Steph. When he becomes willing to defer, this team is going to take that next step. I am not willing to say JK is our best closing option yet but when he becomes a 75% FT shooter (at the very least), he will become that better closing option especially at this stage of Steph's career. The mantle needs to be passed eventually, father time is undefeated.
I also wanted to add, 10 turnovers as a team without Steph and Draymond. Enough said about where those troubles are coming from.

With Melton out I would try the JK/Wigs/Looney/Dray/Curry lineup again. Podz is really not a 2, and he best coming of the bench as backup PG. If not, JK should definitely be a closer. Also agree - with Dray out, why is Andersen getting so little mins. Noticed against Nugs last GM, he played Joker good in playoffs last year, and he hardly matched up against him last GM. Like Kerr is hardly using him at the 5 and it's definitely worth a look. Moody needs more time also, especially if buddy cold like this. I mean extended run.

I disagree with Podzeimski being a "floor general" like he's Jason Kidd or something. This is a talking point from Kerr who's in love with his stepson. No one listens to Podziemski. He was even fighting Kuminga for a rebound. He's a no-hops Westbrook.

We, as a fanbase, absolutely need to STOP putting Steph & Draymond together as the System.
It's Steph Curry. Alone. That is the featured weapon of this offense.
Draymond usefulness on offense is to SETUP Curry. And that's it.
Other players can do the same thing. And do so.
And other players can offer things Draymond simply cannot do -- like complimentary scoring and spacing. Kuminga forces defenders into the paint. He opens things up for Curry. Kuminga has proven that he is a wiling passer and is showing growth in his BBIQ. That will keep improving the more he is featured.

alch and the alch fam, for me, i’m slowly embracing the idea of a rebuild and doing it in time.
we should start building with podz, kum, tjd, moody as foundational pieces.
2 of them have rings between themselves and they’ve been through some battles with us. Podz is a well rounded PG that can set these young guys up the only issue is his shooting but that part of his game will come. But when he’s dialled in there’s very few young guards that does what he does.
i get the whole chase for a 5th ring and it’s all cos of steph but honestly im done with it. Let this rebuild begin because the rest of the league (magic, okc, hawks, etc) are building and we don’t want to be too late to that party by continually stunting the growth of these young guys. Especially jk and moody.
this might sound wild but i’m open to trading curry.

I'm a Podz doubter (not hater) but to answer the question, yes. The one thing I was sure of with Podz was that he could shoot (still am). So as much as I hate how much PT he gets and how much he helps off his man for charges and rebounds it SUCKS to see him in his head so much about shooting.
Edit to add: And it's so frustrating how he gets praised as a floor general but if it isn't Steph he rarely sets up scorers. Him having the ball those two late possessions is fine but any true PG would know to get the ball to JK or Wiggs. It made no sense for him to call his own number with NO passes in those possessions.

This is just an indictment to Kerr’s stubbornness, KD alluded to the motion offense not working every time. Not every wing is like KD, and iso offence works. If you have wings that can do it, make things dynamic. For 3 years now, Kuminga has been looking to pass first, which is egregious for his strengths.
