Description: Typhoon dragons are known as regal guardians of the sea. Their body is elongated, through they have four legs, horns, and a muscular chest. Their scales are every color of blue, from the mildest, to the deepest of sapphire. Instead of wings, they have fins along their spine, arms, and tail.
Trial of Worth: In order to bond with a typhoon dragon, one must swim down into a dark bay to collect an abyssal pearl.
Tier: 4
Reproduction: Progeny—typhoon dragons make their nests inside dark, underwater crags. They mate during hurricanes, but their eggs have weak shells, and if they’re not protected, easily break.
Evocation: Lightning—typhoon dragons and their arcanists evoke shocking lightning strikes. This lightning erupts in a mostly straight line, and electrifies and burn everything it strikes.
Manipulation: Water—typhoon dragons and their arcanists can manipulate tides, currents, waves, and even whole rivers worth of water. They can trap individuals in powerful undertows.
Augmentation: Water—when augmenting themselves, typhoon dragons and their arcanists gain increased speed and strength. This increase doubles if they’re underwater, to the point they are nearly superhuman. When augmenting others, typhoon dragons and their arcanist grant others the ability to breathe underwater.
Imbuing: Water and Lightning—when typhoon dragon parts are used in trinket and artifact creation, they tend to grant water breathing. When typhoon dragon magic is infused into an item, it tends to add lightning (or increase lightning-effect potency).
Aura: Ocean Heart—when a typhoon dragon arcanist creates an aura, the sky darkens and the waters in the nearby area become restless. Anyone at least halfway submerged in water finds its energy and magic being drained away. Arcanists will become tired within a minute, and most mystical creatures will fall asleep from fatigue. The energy and magic are transferred to the typhoon dragon and its arcanist.
Innate Abilities: Typhoon dragons and their arcanists can breathe underwater. Additionally, they immune to lightning, and nullstone effects.
True Form Type: Geas—the typhoon dragon arcanist must collect a chunk of abyssal coral and have their eldrin eat it in order for typhoon dragon to transform.
True Form Appearance: Once a typhoon dragon achieves its true form, it becomes gigantic, rivaling even the mighty leviathan. It grows another set of legs, its body elongates further, and it grows a second set of teeth, similar to a shark. When underwater, its scales glow and shimmer.
True Form Ability: Protector of the Waters—a true form typhoon dragon and its arcanist become immune to poison and venom, and to the damaging effects of fire, acid, and ice. They also regenerate and heal themselves ten times faster while submerged in salt water. If they are in the abyssal hells, the ambient lifedraining does not harm them.
In-World Lore: Typhoon dragons are seen as noble, powerful dragons who make the world a better place. Abyssal pearls are dangerous, and can kill someone if they touch them with their bare hands, but typhoon dragons can consume them without harm, which adds to the legends of them saving people who swim too close. Overall, people consider typhoon dragon arcanists as some of the most regal in the world.
Real-World Inspiration: Typhoon dragons are based around the legends of friendly whales and dolphins. Many sailors speak of these creatures as the helpers of humanity, and gentle mammoths beneath the waves. Those stories inspired the mighty typhoon dragon and its abilities that seemingly benefit others.
