I always knew he never sang in the first one (the voice does not match at all lol) but I think it was his charisma and acting that sold it for me. When I saw Drew Seeley (idk if that’s how you spell it sorry) who is his voiceover, in Another Cinderella Story…I just didn’t see the same charisma. But both are very talented guys!

Does anyone have any tips/tricks to the website? I have tried multiple times over the last couple weeks to link my Patreon account but I still can’t get access… is it only for top tier members?

Saw some comments here about Zac Efron. In High School Musical, Zac Efron is not singing 100% in the *first* movie. Apparently, he didn't know his voice was being mixed/dubbed when he recorded his vocals for it, and when he found out, he said he wanted to sing 100% in the rest. So with extra vocal training, they let him sing just his voice alone for the rest of the movies without the dubbed vocals.

I am so so excited that you guys are watching more musicals, I reckon you guys would like Better Man, it's directed by the same director of The Greatest Showman. Loved the reaction for Hairspray, it's definitely a comfort movie for me :D

Back in May of 2020, when everyone had been in lockdown for two months, a bunch of celebrities were putting out half-hearted sing-along type videos to try to, I don't know, remain relevant when no one could go to the movies or whatever. And then The Actors Fund decided to get in touch with actors and actresses and musicians and choreographers who had all worked on Hairspray - the original movie, the Broadway cast, the West End cast, this movie's cast, the Hairspray Live cast, the Hollywood Bowl cast, and more - and they put together this JOYOUS edit of "You Can't Stop the Beat". Everyone was given the score, and choreography, and each filmed alone in their own home, but then it all comes together in this amazing edit -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEgIJLlBFUI
It is *infinitely* rewatchable -- how many stars can you find? There are a LOT of them.... (there is a credit scroll at the end naming everyone who appears, if you want to find them there)

I love how open you guys are to all of these different kinds of musicals, and that you take them seriously and discuss them without poking fun. What Oak said about how Hairspray was able to take on some of the Civil Rights story but did so without it feeling like a mood swerve that pulls you out of the story is one of the great accomplishments of this movie.
OAK! You were singing along in some movie recently and the guys stopped you - you have a *really nice singing voice*! Don't ever let the rest of the gang keep you from singing!
I think you'll find the more musicals you watch, the more you'll understand that "musical" isn't really a genre so much as it is a medium for storytelling - and "musicals" are just as varied as "dramas" or "comedies" are.
Also, just because all of you made mention of how great Queen Latifah is, you should know she's in Chicago - and she has a big musical number.
Just sayin.... 😉

I was worried you guys wouldn’t enjoy but am happy you seemed to. Now I will continue to anxiously and patiently hope and wait for you guys to react to Chicago😉

Regarding Zac . As for the first High School Muscial he's not singing he's actually dubbed, This movie was really his training camp for the rest of his carrier, also he got to diverse quickly from Disney which really helped him out.
It might be a simple joke for at the time seeing Zac say "Kiss my ass" was a shocker.

While I agree that Hamilton is the GOAT, I disagree that The Greatest Showman is better than Hairspray. Don’t get me wrong - the music is FANTASTIC (and probably better than Hairspray); however, the story and direction of the musical itself was subpar. To me, Hairspray does a better job of storytelling and cinematography than GS.
