The 10 count was definitely not part of the rules. That’s just because that’s how Marlene tested her when she was first bit. It seems like the rules are just that you don’t bring somebody who’s bit back to the town

It’s heartbreaking hearing Joel tell Ellie to be better than him, when we see how much pain she is in. She’s not angry at Joel: she’s angry at Abby for taking away her father figure so violently, and taking away any opportunity to repair that relationship, and she’s angry with HERSELF for not forgiving Joel sooner and not spending time with him enough before he died. I sobbed the whole hour of the episode.
