The one thing that I don't get is Ellie saying that Nora said "whale" and "wheel." This is my second time watching the show and I paid extremely close attention while she was with Nora. Nora never said those two words or anything about where Abby is. And when I searched for it online the only questioning that came up was some bits about how the Ferris Wheel wouldn't be there. But Nora didn't tell Ellie anything. All I can think is that Nora was supposed to say those words but then they wrapped with a take where Nora didn't say those words and didn't realize and ended up with this issue where Ellie says Nora said something that never happened. I'm surprised I'm the only one that seems to have noticed.

The game its so much better

As somebody who hasn't played the game, I agree that this season felt rushed and poorly paced. Between the extreme reliance on exposition dialogue and the constant cuts to the Seraphites, I just couldn't get on board. Also, it seems like the showrunners were playing it safe since, from my understanding, Ellie is much more brutal in the game.

I know I’m going to catch some flack for this, but in my opinion the drop in quality for this season compared to last, feels worse than the shift in quality of House of the Dragon Season 1 to Season 2, HBO just can't land their different adaptations 2nd seasons the last few years, at least in the writing department. Ellie just doesn’t feel like the same character. Instead of the hardened, emotionally scarred 19-year-old from the game—someone who’s been through hell, been lied to by the person she trusted most, and has killed to survive—we get a version of her that still acts like the spunky 14-year-old from early Season 1. Her tone and behavior flip wildly across episodes, and outside of the major game-adapted moments, it feels like the writers have lost sight of who she’s supposed to be at this point in her journey. The pacing is all over the place. While Ellie and Dina are still present and active, the story keeps diverting its attention to the Seraphites and Isaac. And while I liked the expanded take on Isaac, these subplots feel like distractions from the emotional core of the season—Ellie’s revenge. The ex-Fireflies she’s hunting are part of the WLF, but the constant jumping around undercuts the tension and development of Ellie, Dina, Tommy, and Jesse’s journey. The Seraphites (Scars), the WLF (Wolves), and Isaac should be the focus of Abby’s story next season—not a sidequest subplot crammed into this season, especially when Ellie has no real connection to them beyond pursuing her target. Structurally, this could’ve been so much stronger if told linearly. Start with the flashbacks from the five-year gap as Episodes 1 and 2. Show us Joel and Ellie’s relationship as it grows in the years after the first game—moments of warmth, trust, and bonding. Then show the slow unraveling as Ellie starts to suspect the truth and the distance between them sets in. Let us see how things fall apart, leading to them barely speaking. Then, just before everything shatters, give us that final, emotional scene the night before his death, where they begin to reconnect—just a little. Then hit us with Joel’s death in Episode 3. That buildup would’ve made his loss land with even more weight and heartbreak. The game had this same issue, and the show had a real opportunity to fix it—but instead, it doubled down.

I think its better to play through the game even if you stop halfway, so you can see how they're different. The videos only compare lines from the show vs how they're said in the game

I need the Part 2 playthrough like I NEED WATER! At least the first half of the game please lol. The show is good, but the game is the masterpiece version of the story.

I dont want to...but I know Im going to. Ok...here we go...*presses play*

Please react to the cut scenes in the game! You’re right Oak, you do play half the game as Ellie and the other half as Abby! So you can react to the cut scenes from the first part of playing as Ellie which will be the same as the tv show with no spoilers for anything ahead! Very excited for you to see the differences between the game and the show and why a lot of gamers had some problems with how they decided to do the show

Same, Love Abby

Ellie is just as much of a hypocrite lol. Jesse is one of the most moral characters in the whole show/game. He would've been a great leader for Jackson. He's the one that kept Ellie and Dina's ass alive on the revenge journey.

I wouldnt cause the way the game is formatted makes it to where theyd be spoiled for abby’s side. Id just wait or play the whole thing atp lmao

slavicandsapphic

I cannot wait for season 3 as Abby is my favourite character from the game. So excited 😆

I'd say now you can safely play at least the first half of the game, until the cliffhanger :D It was a blast watching along.

I KNEW Jesse voted no. I could tell way before when he gave that "diplomatic" response to Ellie the night before the vote. I'm glad Ellie called him out on how hypocritical he is. Jesse would make an awful leader and is definitely not the next Maria.  Now that we have this season as a whole, I'd rate it 4/10. The final episode did move the story along but they made Ellie's time in Seattle so short. I think it was a mistake killing Joel off so early because his death was solely to drive the story. Other than the flashback episode, episodes 3 onward felt like filler. And they only killed Joel off so early to avoid spoilers for the non gamers. If they weren't ready to push the story forward, they shouldn't have killed him off. The show definitely suffered from lack of Joel/Pedro in my opinion. But also, they made characters who knew how to patrol suddenly forget their knowledge and training once they left Jackson. Who runs blindly towards gunshots?  Craig (co creator) said they weren't sure they'd get a s3 and with this season being 3 episodes shorter than s1, they had to be picky and figure out what elements of the game were most important....I got none of that. And now they plan to stretch it over two more seasons. I hope s3 isn't just all Abby, I want flashbacks with Joel and hopefully Tommy's side. They built the dinosaur set then didn't use it because of time. So hopefully the dinosaurs make it in the future. They left out so much and had the series gotten canceled, we had a season of almost nothing. I truly think it was pointless to introduce the Seraphites this season. Probably could've left out WLF as well other than the tidbit about Abby and her crew in episode 3. The show runners nixed so many great moments in the game (from Ellie's pov) to give us tidbits that they couldn't even flesh out, so they were irrelevant. A war going on in Seattle is all that was needed and Ellie and Dina's relationship could've been a montage during Ellie's 4 month recuperation in episode 3. That would've left them with 4 episodes to give us more in depth of Ellie and Tommy's 3 days in Seattle. I loved Joel's flashback episode but even with that, they cut so much out. So I hope we get more flashbacks in the future episodes!
