I hope this doesn't come off as rude because I'm genuinely curious, but do you speak Korean? I ask because I live in Korea and have been studying the language for 7 years and I've never seen the eo vowel sound (어) pronounced like the O in SOCK. I've always seen it advised as u or uh. Like 언니 is romanized to unnie. I'm so curious about this that I literally just asked my Korean students in my Dystopian Literature class if they would ever say 석 like sock. 😂

2025-09-08 12:07:49 +0000 UTCDon't know if the guys will see this but wanted to help with the name pronunciations, especially because these are pretty simple and I see them adding more syllables😅 Sieun (MC) - 2 syllables • SHI- as in, "SHE went to the store." • -OON as in, "mOON." • she oon Suho (MMA friend) - 2 syllables • SUE- as in, "my lawyer will SUE." • -HOE as in, "HOrizon." • sue hoe Beomseok (bullied friend) - 2 syllables • BUM- as in, "photo al-BUM." • -SOCK as in, "put a SOCK in it." • bum sock Seokdae (cousin) - 2 syllables • SOCK- as in, "put a SOCK in it." • -DAY as in, "monDAY." • sock day Yeongbin (bully) - 2 syllables • YONG- as in, "wrONG" but start with a Y sound. • -BIN as in, "has BEEN." • yong bin I hope this helps at all!

You can dip each piece in different sauces, but the one they put in the wrap is ssamjang (쌈장). My personal fave is wrapping the pork with ssamjang, rice, some kimchi, and a bit of garlic. SO good. And yeah, you eat it with your hands and put it in your mouth in one go. I live in Seoul (Songpa-gu) in a food alley and there so many great BBQ places by my apartment.

Yes, he faces the bullies and stands up for himself, sometimes even coming across as cold, rude, or ‘arrogant’ as some people say. But that’s all just a defense mechanism. He’s scared shitless, but that’s exactly what makes him courageous. Weak hero indeed.

Sieun is a top student out of the whole School but I don’t think he necessarily went after Sieun bc of that. My take, it’s bc he couldn’t get to Sieun, he’s used to getting his way as a bully & for the first time someone he clearly underestimated stood up to him. Oh about them letting him slide, I’m sure being rich can play a big part in that but Sieun did break the kid nose in the most violent way possible & stabbed another so it could have been worse but drugs are a big hell no in Korea, you get a longer jail time than a murder or rapist!

He’s just a kid who’s trying to survive, he knows he’s not as strong as the bullies but if he has to fight he will and he’ll fight to the end no matter what. A lot of reactors I’ve seen don’t seem to get a good handle on who Sieun is as a character and just think he’s a moody kid who doesn’t want to deal with others, but it’s so much more than that. Obviously we haven’t seen much about his past but clearly something made him this way. There is one scene in one of the later episodes of this season that sort of hints as to why that is and I’m interested in what your take on that would be. I’ve also seen comments saying that the way Sieun walks is indicative of someone who is depressed, which I find interesting. I wonder if the actor did that on purpose or if it just came out of him while filming. Loved the reaction, see you next week!
