Chapter 246: The Three Major Magical Factions

Academy City, Hound Dog Force Headquarters.

Dressed in casual wear, George strode toward the deepest section of the headquarters—the archive room. The surveillance cameras nearby all failed under the influence of his electromagnetic abilities.

Although his body in this world was female, the difference in sensation compared to a male body was minimal due to his impoverished circumstances. At the very least, he didn’t have to deal with issues like excessive chest weight causing imbalance.

Bathing and other such tasks could be easily handled with magic, so there was no real inconvenience.

As for clothing, he refused to dress like Misaka Mikoto or the Misaka Sisters, who constantly wandered around in short skirts. Instead, he consistently wore men’s casual attire, paired with a hat. At a glance, it wasn’t easy to distinguish his gender.

“Confuse and mislead!”

Casting a Confundus Charm on the Hound Dog guards stationed at the archive entrance, he confidently walked in and began skillfully flipping through the documents.

Thanks to his efforts in the Harry Potter world, he could now silently and wandlessly cast simpler spells. However, for high-level magic, he still needed to rely on hand gestures.

But with the combined efforts of his counterparts across different worlds, it wouldn’t be long before he could cast all spells silently and without a wand.

“This world... does have magic after all!”

As he read through the documents detailing magic, George’s eyes gradually lit up.

To prevent hacking and infiltration by abilities like Misaka Mikoto’s, organizations like the Hound Dog Force kept physical copies of crucial research and intelligence.

After learning this, George had made it a habit to sneak into the archives and browse through classified files.

Today, he had finally uncovered clues about magic.

According to the documents in his hands, this world had numerous magical factions. The largest among them were the three major forces of the Cross Church: the Roman Orthodox Church, the Anglican Church, and the Russian Orthodox Church.

Beyond these, there were many independent magic organizations and freelance magic users.

However, the document didn’t go into much detail about these groups—just a brief mention that they considered magic to be another form of supernatural ability, viewing magicians as a different kind of esper.

It also indicated that Academy City did not welcome magicians.

Likewise, the magical factions weren’t exactly peaceful with each other; internal conflicts were intense.

“So, most magicians are within the church? That makes things easier.”

Now that he had found a lead, things were simple for George. He just needed to capture a high-ranking magician from the church, extract their memories, and he would gain a complete understanding of how magic worked in this world.

Closing the file, George left the archive room. He had already gone through most of the research here, including extensive studies on esper abilities, which had been invaluable in helping him increase his power level.

“Subject 9981, it's time for your ability enhancement experiment.”

Not long after leaving the archive, he ran into Kihara Amata, dressed in his signature white lab coat.

Kihara eyed George with suspicion.

George always used his abilities to block surveillance wherever he went, claiming he disliked being monitored. As a result, Kihara never knew exactly what George was doing around the base.

However, lately, every time he searched for George, he found him near the archive room.

Even though the guards swore they had never seen George enter, Kihara couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

“No problem.”

George didn’t resist and obediently followed Kihara to the lab.

Kihara’s ability enhancement experiments did help accelerate George’s esper development. However, George knew Kihara wasn’t just trying to raise his power level—he was also interested in using him as a test subject to uncover the cause of his unique mutations.

But with George’s mastery of Legilimency and psychic abilities, Kihara’s hidden agenda was as clear as day.

“Out-of-body soul displacement!”

As soon as they entered the lab, George cast the Imperius Curse on Kihara from behind, then swiftly used his electromagnetic abilities to disable the security cameras.

The Imperius Curse worked exceptionally well on ordinary people, and with the added boost from his psychic abilities, he could flawlessly control Kihara during every experiment.

“Begin, but do not extract my blood. Also, alter some of the data.”

Under George’s command, Kihara obediently carried out the ability enhancement experiment according to his specifications.

Once the experiment concluded, Kihara reviewed the report and said:
"Based on the data, if we continue at this pace, you'll break through to Level 5 within two months."

“Perfect. Change that to two years.”

George stepped off the experimental machine and placed a small vial of blood into it.

Altering the experiment results would make Kihara’s superior—Aleister Crowley—less wary of him.

As for the vial of blood, it was actually drawn from another Misaka Sister, used to replace his own blood in every test.

He had no intention of letting Academy City obtain his DNA for research.

George had, of course, secretly probed Kihara’s memories. Through them, he had gained significant insight into Academy City’s inner workings.

The most critical piece of information concerned Aleister Crowley.

At first, he assumed that Academy City's leadership consisted of the Board of Directors, who had founded the city and developed esper research.

But in reality, Academy City had only one true leader.

The city’s actual creator was none other than the chairman of the Board—Aleister Crowley.

Kihara Amata and the Hound Dog Force were directly under Aleister’s command.

According to Kihara’s memories, Aleister seemed omniscient, with absolute control over Academy City, despite constantly being suspended in a life-support tank in District 7.

George suspected that Aleister was also behind the Misaka Sisters experiment and the small surveillance robots that monitored them.

Creating an advanced city like Academy City, developing countless espers, and possessing such terrifying power—Aleister Crowley was undoubtedly an extraordinary existence, his strength unfathomable.

Thus, George did not act recklessly. Instead, he chose to lie low, using Kihara to spread misinformation about himself.

During his activities, he would instinctively use magnetism to interfere with the miniature surveillance robots, or simply cast a Disillusionment Charm.

“Obliviate! Memory Implantation!”

Casting a Memory Charm to erase Kihara’s recent recollections, followed by a False Memory Charm to implant new ones, George finally lifted the Imperius Curse.

When Kihara regained consciousness, he detected nothing amiss. After dismissing George, he took the supposed blood sample and began a new round of testing.

Meanwhile, George left the Hound Dog Force headquarters.
