Weird Food Question
Added 2023-10-01 19:00:03 +0000 UTCI think its fairly common that a lot of kids end up acquiring a taste for the things they didn't enjoy when they were young. Our palettes widen with maturity typically. But do you have a reverse example? As in, a food you liked as a kid, or even all through your life...but now as an adult you dislike it?

I feel like the CEO of Wendy’s cares more about their social media presence than the actual food

2023-10-03 00:19:23 +0000 UTCYep, it’s Mayo or Ranch for me when it comes to fries. And Honey Mustard or Ranch for chicken fingers/strips/whatever.

2023-10-02 23:59:48 +0000 UTCWow seems we had the opposite experience. I hated ketchup my whole life. I didnt like the idea of dipping a salty potato-y thing in something sweet. But then I decided to give it another go when I was around 24 and holy shit....everything changed. Now I love it. But the mayo thing is interesting. I actually love tartar sauce so I consider that someone similar

2023-10-02 23:56:10 +0000 UTCMcDonalds is nostalgic more than anything. It's a brilliant brand that keeps the consistency, and the food is not great. So its brilliant in some ways. But yes, I never go. Havent really since childhood much

2023-10-02 23:55:14 +0000 UTCI dont feel as extreme about it, because I drink a lot of sparkling water, flavored or otherwise....but I get the soda bit for sure. Just sooo sweet. It's so much sugar. I dont understand how people can drink root beer for instance. Just too far for me lol

2023-10-02 23:54:38 +0000 UTChaha yes you're right. And yeah goldfish is one of those snacks that doesnt transition too well out of childhood. I also ate goldfish a lot but...havent since I was maybe 10

2023-10-02 23:53:33 +0000 UTCya know why? Cause...Wendy peaked in the 90s. I agree. I had Wendys allll the time. Would always get the large fry, maybe a burger, or the spicy chicken sandwich (the 90s style with the tomato, iceberg lettuce and mayo). Just so many memories. And I think the entire company has lost a lot of its charm in ways

2023-10-02 23:52:00 +0000 UTCOften when you eliminate fried foods it can sometimes be tough to go back. So that could possibly be the reason.

2023-10-02 23:50:26 +0000 UTCYes! Me too! I drank so much soda as a kid. Now it's hard to do that. So I drink fizzy waters now.

2023-10-02 02:58:25 +0000 UTCI used to enjoy eating foods that had ketchup on them, or dipping my fries in ketchup. Now, I can’t stand ketchup. I still like tomatoes, but think ketchup tastes gross. I know. It makes ZERO sense. But when it comes to dipping sauces for foods such as French fries, I do what they do in Holland. I dip them in Mayonnaise. Soooo good!

2023-10-01 21:55:29 +0000 UTCOutside of the fries, pretty much anything from McDonalds. Used to go all the time as a kid and get their burgers, nuggets and McFlurries. The older I got the more apparent it was the worst for fast food.

2023-10-01 20:36:59 +0000 UTCWhen I was a kid I used to drink 10-15 sodas a week 😐. 15 years ago I went completely cold turkey. And now plain lemon lime sparkling water tastes like soda to me lol

2023-10-01 20:06:09 +0000 UTCRegular soft drinks. I was an overweight kid, and I liked Coke a lot but now in my 20’s it’s way, way too sweet. Since I’ve been on a low-carb diet, I drink mostly diet drinks and I don’t see myself ever liking regular soft drinks again (except maybe a Coke slushee on a cheat day but it’s rare).

2023-10-01 19:32:41 +0000 UTCI used to eat Goldfish crackers by the handful as a kid. Like I would literally take shots of Goldfish from those tiny wax dixie cups in Sunday School. I don’t hate Goldfish now, but I do find them bland compared to Cheez Its, so I haven’t had them in a few years.

2023-10-01 19:27:26 +0000 UTCI loved Wendy's burgers as a kid but today they're the last place I'd go to for fast food burgers. Hadn't even had the desire for one in years.

2023-10-01 19:22:46 +0000 UTCLasagna. I used to love the Stouffer’s frozen packs when I was little. Now…lasagna in general just seems like too much. Too much meat, definitely too much cheese. I still like pasta and other Italian foods, but lasagna doesn’t do it for me anymore.
Bennett Oliver
2023-10-01 19:22:32 +0000 UTCRoot beer, coke, any and all soft drinks are intolerably sweet to me now.. Don't even want to look at cotton candy. Wouldn't drink iced tea without sugar, now won't drink it with it.

2023-10-01 19:18:18 +0000 UTCRookworst, a Dutch sausage you eat with mashed potatoes. Loved it as a kid (as all kids in Holland do), but I tried it again recently and it felt like taking a bite of salt with a meat texture. Don’t know how I didn’t dry out from thirst back then

2023-10-01 19:17:04 +0000 UTCFried chicken. The fried breading is just unappealing to me as an adult. Grilled chicken is way more versatile too

2023-10-01 19:07:22 +0000 UTCFast food. Example: I just ate some Jacks chicken and fries and it was gross and undercooked.

2023-10-01 19:02:16 +0000 UTCGrew up vegetarian so had a lot of those fake like Morning Star sausages and "bacon." Didn't have real bacon until I went to college and well, you just can't go back can you? Shit tastes like dog food to me now.
