Crash [P22] Failed Attempt

So to start off this is the failed attempt at this page lol. Yesterday I spent the whole day with a different version of this one, but it was way too messy. This one got a little closer to my vision, but still the colors are not working the way I want them to, along with the painting method.

HOWEVER I did gleam some things from the hours of experimenting. One of which is that I want to pursue having that dreamy smudge texture of the dark vibrant green trees that I’ve smattered around.

Secondly, I do like the splatter paint vibrant look to the trees in the far back. Where I run into the most trouble, is the trees towards the foreground. I want to preserve a sense of watercolor, BUT I also want some detail, not a smudgy abstraction.

Thirdly I enjoy the lighting that I will be Pershing with a cloud overhead

This angle and perspective is an unknown territory when it comes to this style, so while frustrated at the lost time, I also know it’s a part of the growing process 😖.

I really want this image to help transport readers to this new location that holt will be in. But not just as a one to one representation, So I’m stressing a little more with how this one comes out haha

So in short

What I think is working ok

Texture

Some colors

Patterning

Lighting direction

“Dreamy” areas

What I want to improve

Thank you for the inspiring words catcouch 🫂🖤🤍 I’ve grabbed myself a book on watercolor painting environments as well as some extra watercolor brushes to hopefully help tackle this enigma with full force. It’s interesting how unknown things become when I try things from different angles/distances in regard to this look I want lol. But some of this might just be coming from overthinking as well XD Anyways once again I really appreciate the excitement, and enjoyment ! ^_^

I love this~ Getting to see the process, even ideas that don't work out, is a treat. And I think the scene here is super cool. Values do matter a lot, so wanting to improve them with deeper, richer colors is a great goal! A good variety of lights and darks to really catch the eye~
