Extended Writing Update

It's been a productive week! I'm officially 200 words ahead of my goal for today, so I'm dropping the update a little earlier in the day before I mosey off to spend a little time with family.

As you may've guessed from the preview posted this week, I'll be introducing some new characters in next month's update. I really like the one I'm working on now - his name is Ivanor, and he's the same guy in the preview post. He's a fun combination to write, very down-to-earth but also a big ol' dreamer. When I first got him on the page I had this rush of satisfaction where like, after over 3 years of imagining Dalusin, bam. The first character I write in the city is exactly the representation I envisioned. There's lots of different types of people, of course, but I feel like this guy embodies a lot of the best qualities of the place. I'm really excited to show some of where Rin gets their personality, too, by showing their city's culture.

I've also started workshopping the Leon romance arc and I'm enjoying it a lot. It's way cuter in places than I expected it to be and I love that. I haven't figured out yet where I'm going to start introducing it, so that's my biggest question to solve, currently. I was planning on having him pop up in the story (assuming he's alive) at some point - but if he's an RO (even a minor one) I think I might prefer to have him make a brief chapter 1 appearance. Oh, well, I'm sure future-me will figure it out 🤪 (sorry, future-me).

I've also been editing chapter one. I've been happy enough with it for an alpha, but I want to get it to beta status by the time the next update launches. Or round one of beta, I guess? Alpha 2.0? Beta 0.5? I always have it in my mind that whatever I consider beta at the start of a project will probably change seven times 😂😭 But anyway, I'd like to get the first two chapters beta-ready by June or July, so I'm making some time here and there to work on that.

I hope you guys had as good a week as I did! Here's the next preview:

"Enough! That's enough." I look over in the direction of the sound and see a ruddy-faced man with the bushiest eyebrows I've ever seen pushing his way towards me. He stands a few inches taller than most of the people around him, which lends him some help in muscling through.
