South Park Season 15 Episode 8! (Ass Burgers)....But There's A Catch

Once again the likes of technology has foiled me. In this case, my original first and blind reaction to South Park Season 15 Episode 8 was not actually recorded, and so that original camera "footage" is lost.

However!

Because I ended up talking about a number of things throughout this episode, and because I knew you'd all still want to see some kind of reaction, I rewatched the episode (with the correct setup) and still made all the talking points from the original reaction.

Sorry it's not the first reaction you're watching, but it is still something!!

I’m not sure how I feel about this episode because there are some parts of this episode I like but some parts I don’t really like also according to the dvd commentary for this episode they originally planned to keep randy and Shannon divorced and drop the episodic formula for the show (I can’t remember if they said permanently or for just for the rest of this season) but than changes there minds when they actually started to work on this episode

Slackity

Ahh yes, that's what happened with the Asperger rename. And I did forget about the point that while autism is more of a spectrum in the world of psychology, it's not classified that way to a lot of people (I think I even mentioned in the episode how the group of people with "Asperger's" acted more like individuals with more severe autism as opposed to a mild case of it as denoted by Asperger's), and people not as familiar with autism tend to lump it all together which is rather damaging as a viewpoint. It's awesome to hear that you work with a community of varying autistic folks, and didn't know that about the alcohol, although in a strange way I might participate in a similar vein as consuming even a little alcohol during social gatherings helps mellow me out and feel less anxious in those situations. It can be tough dealing with mental health in whatever form it takes, which is why it's important for us (and maybe even the general public) to have a better idea on what it takes for making the diagnoses and symptoms easier to manage.

The aspergers syndrome was named after the german doctor Hans Asperger, who has a history with the Nazis, but I'm not getting into that now. But that's why a lot of people feel uncomfortable with this term these days. I'm diagnosed with depression and aspergers syndrome, and I can tell, while aspergers sometimes feels more like a gift than like a disorder, the depression is the much bigger problem. I was diagnosed at 28 years old. In my childhood and youth everyone felt like something was off with me, but no one thought about autism, that's how "mild" the symptoms were. Yes, it's not diagnosed as asperger syndrome anymore, but as ASD = autism spectrum disorder, which includes all different kinds of autism. They did this because the diagnose criteria changed, to make things a bit "easier". A lot of people think this is a problem (me included), because everyone who is in the spectrum, is getting the same diagnosis now, whether they are mentally disabled or highly skilled. And I think that makes it just more more difficult for everyone, to get the individual kind of help they need. By the way, today I'm leading an online-community for late diagnosed autism, so for people who got their diagnoses as adults, which comes with very different problems, compared to people who got their diagnoses as children. I thought the alcohol joke was funny here. I see that in my community. A lot of people with autism treat themselves with alcohol (wouldn't recommend of course), because it makes them feel better connected with their emotions. Usually I can't even answer a simple question like "How are you feeling today", which makes it impossible to treat my depression with regular psychotherapy. BTW, my depression is seen as a sideeffect of longterm undiagnosed and untreated autism. (no, autism can't be healed, but symptoms can be treated in various ways) In fact, a whole lot of people with ASD are also diagnosed with depression.

Oooooh, you know, I'd forgotten about Crabtree being voiced by Bergman, but that would make sense; I guess I don't remember that happening but I trust you on that! Indeed, shame about the reaction, but it does happen sometimes.

Shame about the reaction but it's still great to get a discussion for this episode! btw Ms. Crabtree died in one of the earlier seasons, I think season 7, because no one else was able to do her voice after Mary Kay Bergman died
