Newsletter: week of nov. 4th

Well, this week was a doozy. While I don't want to get too political here, I must express my deep anger, fear, and disappointment in the presidential election that took place this week. It is important to me that you know that I don't stand for the hate, misogyny, racism, ignorance, transphobia, etc, that our country has once again voted to amplify. Sigh, I could say so much more, but something tells me you folks get it.

Ok, with that out of the way, here are things that piqued my curiosity and interest this week. Please share what came across your radar in the comments below or over in the chat!

Tech I played with this week:

I am finally getting some time to set up this little guy! I have been searching for more ways to film myself, and this might be a great answer. The Neo can follow you around, making cinematic drone movements, and doesn't require a controller. Plus, it's reasonably priced at $200. But dang, is this very small drone very loud!

I have only been using these for two days now. My initial impressions are this: the case is a little large for my liking, but the buds have impressive sound for being open ear. More on these later, though!

I have fully fallen into the mechanical keyboard wormhole! But one thing is clear: I prefer a regular profile to a low-profile keyboard. I fear what will happen if I say this, but here it goes—send recs!

hehe

Things I watched:

I would say that 90% of the time when I scroll on YouTube, I click on the video with the fewest views, which led me to this vlog. There are shots out of focus and some funny angles, and our narrator doesn't explain anything to us, yet it tells a great story and provides a feeling of joy. You really don't need much to tell a story!

A very cool look into a lifestyle I had no idea existed. Do I need to take up sailing...?

That was the only thing on my mind for all 7 minutes.

I just want to know more about that suction cup rig he used to do it!

Things I listened to:

I got a lot of writing done with this mix playing.

This podcast is a deep dive into my favorite cocktail, the painkiller, and also features my partner's brother, Daniel! He is the general manager at Lullaby, a great cocktail bar on NYC's Lower East Side. If you're in town, the Dole Whip is a must.

This band has me in a chokehold right now. Please send help.

Ok, that's it for this week! I'll leave you with this beautiful painting by Noah Verrier of an ideal nighttime snack.

Have a great weekend, bud!

Looove that painting by Noah Verrier. ❤️ I’ve been looking at Keita Morimoto’s stuff a lot this week – just stunning work. https://www.keitamorimoto.com/as-we-didn-t-know-it

I think its no coincidence that I deleted my Facebook account this week
