RE:Curse 0.94a

RE:Curse 0.94 is out!

In this version you can reach the end of the game, I will probably add last update later, there are a couple things I could add like galery or more optional content.

Honestly I'm quite happy with the game, but I'm affraid the gameplay loop isn't convienent to make a big game with lots of content, also it is my first completed game and there are mistakes I made in the code that made updating this game slower than needed.

So I think now is the a good time to start a new game, I have a couple idea, either continuation/spin off of RE:curse but with different gameplay or completely other new game, I'll ask you in a few days because I don't want to spoil RE:Curse's end by explaining what sequel would be if we decide to settle for it.

Missing content :
Added the illustration for "spreading corruption" action.

Bugfix : I tried to fix a bug that happened if you enslave Morgana too fast that would prevent some event to happen. I never really managed to reproduced the bug so I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's fixed.

Upgrades :

-Lust mark : Unlock lust sanctum

-Drone maker : unlocked in the lab, this allow you to turn prisoner in drone without spending slimes.

-Hypno suit : improve the brainwashing chair, allowing it to produce masked slaves instead of mindless slave as long as you have enough masks

-harden barrier : Ignore the first X ennemy when calculating damage done to your barrier

Buildings :

-New dungeon room : lust sanctum Increase your magic proficiency.

-New dungeon building : brainwashing chair, automatically turn your prisoners in mindless slaves

-Temple level 4 : Improves dark whisper, spreading corruption will sometimes put villager in trance, luring them to your prisons, the more mana you invest in it the more often you'll get new prisoners.

Other :

-You can now make Morgana submit if you manage to get her will low enough before she brainwash you.

-You can now use Puppetry scroll on Morgana to reduce her will by 50%. TOTEST

Balance :

Remove infamy gain when upgrading the temple.

Statue mana increase 20->100

Reduce prison stone cost creep : 1.4->1.2

Reduce wall stone cost creep : 1.5->1.3

Increased loyalty gain from spreading corruption

Increased bed warmer mana max : 2->5

Increased corrupted beast army fighting bonus : 1.0->3.0

Increased passive loyalty gain from overthrowing the church 0.06->0.020

QoL:

Spreading corruption will drain a smaller portion of your available mana each second. The amount of loyalty/seconds gain and mana cost/second should still be the same, but you'll end up with a higher portion of your mana available when activating the ability, which mean you won't have to deactivate it as often when you want to make a one time mana purchase.

Reduced Moonshade's cage cost and cost creep : 50->30 1.2->1.1

Bugfix :

Reduces the number of visible digits for Moonshade's wood.

As usual I've hosted it on MEGA. I uploaded it on Itch too (you can try the link it should already work even if it's not public yet), it shoudl work if you want to play from your browser (you should be able to use your save from previous version on itch using the option in "settings")

Edit : updated to 0.94a hotfix fixing a couple issues and adding an illustration for spreading corruption.

Yeah it started happening at like 15+ base hypno, between that and clever usage of the puppet scroll I got her down a few times before the "gift" event. And then none of the events after triggered.

Hmm about the kitsune event not happening, I'm wondering, do you have a super high hypno stats? The only reason I could think those event not happening when you enslave morgana, is because you'd enslave her so fast you didn't have on of the required event to happens (like if you enslave her in a couple days). Then again enslave her so fast seems impossible without cheating. If you did enslave that fast, note that the bug should be fixed when I post the next hotfix (along with adding the image for spreading corruption)

Thank you! Well there are a couple problem imo with the game loop : -It's not really convenient to use this very gameplay loop if the player isn't looking at the screen most of time. I could try to fix it by making a complicated system in which the player would be able to save and time every single action to make "build order" but then there is the event problem and the improvement of skill that limit how effective it is. Because of that I don't have as much wiggle room as I'd like when balancing the time required to complete the game. So you get this strange mix of a game that's a bit slow like an idle game would be, but you can't really idle. I think it's ok for a game as long as it's not for too long, but I wouldn't want to make a big game with this game mechanic. -It takes a bit too much attention from the player and limit my ability to add other mechanic. I was happy about the paladins attack and the barrier at the end, but I think I would have run out of idea rapidly. What I plan to do for my next game is either : 1)RE:Curse spin of/prequel, basically you'd be playing Kate before and when she find Kaï. And you'd get a more idle core mechanic in the game. The good things with that is that it's easy to produce the core gameplay, and then I could add "sides gameplay" more easily. (For instance a stealth/power mini game first in which she try to brainwash enough coworker without being spoted, then later I could head toward some kind of diplomatic sim or w/e when she try conquer the world etc. So you'd get the core idle mechanic to get ressources/technologies etc, but everytime I want to try something new for gameplay, I could isolate it in its own tab, and link it to the core game with ressource sharing etc. 2)RE:Curse sequel. This would be a stacklands cards game, so the main character would be in it's prison, but you could use mana to use spell to brainwash villager around you, then just like in stackland it would mainly be a game of finding recipies (by trying combination of card (put villager card on tree gives wood, 3 wood + 3 stone + villager would allow you to make a temple. Villager + temple would generate mana card over time etc). And basically it would be a 3 faction fight between the order, Kaï and Kate's company. 3)3D! I really want to try 3D, the big downside is I'd have to learn it first (I tried to install a couple engine and I'm trying to asses how long it would take to make a game in them). But there are a couple of cool stuff with 3D : -Allow different kind of gameplay. -Not necessarily harder in the long run, because yes it's much longer to have a 3D character rigged than to have 2D portrait, but once it's there you don't have redraw it everytime. -I'm more likely to be able to produce some of the art. I'm really bad at drawing, but the thing with 3D is part of the visual appeal is linked to visual effect. And visual effect are less about being precise with your mouse/good in geometry, and more about math. And math, THAT I can do. So I could try to pay someone for 3D models or use pre existing ones and focus on making beautiful spell/effect etc I'm not sure what I'd do, I have a couple idea, but I have to assess how much work they would take. I'll give more info when I post the poll about which next game I should work on. About the cultist event not happening, I'll investigate in a sec.
