Gregg the illegal immigrant (in Turkey)

I asked Gregg to talk about his story of nearly drowning,  rescue at sea, and detainment in Turkey.     Thought some people might like to hear about this!

P.PS... apologies to all...my spelling mistakes are nit cos I'm a dull boy.... I have bad ARTHRITIS in my hands... (and other places...lol) TFM ROCKS...

PS... It's just as cool to see our names scrolling up at the end of each new post...👍😎👍

Dammit...every time I hit "return" the few lines get posted... anyway...if you do giveaways which are financially valuable to patreons...i.e. a holster...a box of slugs...a Lee mold etc, which would cost a fair bit if bought out in commercial venues, and it is this GIVEAWAY that makes people watch or subscribe or give you a buck a month, then I suppose Patreon have a point to make. But the simple reality is as others have said. ..the GIVEAWAYS dont make us TAOFLEDERFOLKS..(as the one and only O.G calls us & The Awesome Danny too), we do not support you for the giveaways...Hell...I wrote a LIMMERICK poem about O.G adrift in the Adriatic...bless em.. and I got no giveaways at all. So your nethod of selecting is FAIR and SOUND. If you were ooenly advertising "SUPPORT TFM CHANNEL AN GET ENTRY TO OUR REGULAR GIVEAWAY LOTTERY" ...but you DON'T. I support you because I WANT TO and because your channel is perfect at answering those "WHAT IF....." questions that people ask in relation to guns..ammo...target types..etc etc. The RIFLE RACK giveaway us obviously a high value item. I'm not suggesting that the guy only gives mega goodies away to draw in Patreons... but I can see patreon's issue. Now..on the flip side...TFM giveaways are financially worthless really. Usually spent ammo...twisted slugs...blah blah...even the intact ammo like tungsten items are of minimal value to anyone. ..BUT... TO US WHO FOLLOW AND SUPPORT YOU...HAVING A TINY LITTLE BIT OF TFM MEMORABILIA, MEANS A SERIOUSLY BIG THING. It's not for us to make money out of. It's for ys to really feel part OF the TFM LEGEND... I have a bit of the BERLIN WALL... a block of oak which was cut from HMS VICTORY, ADMIRAL LORD NELSON'S flag ship on which he died at the battle of TRAFALGAR. ..but I ain't selling them...making from them or anything. I have them because they are special to me. At the end of the day...I hope that Patreon is bright and smart enough to see that TFM giveaways are not expensive "CLICK BAIT" type things. Just cool talking points for your supporters which are given away fairly. Also...when I started supporting you...I knew about the giveaways but that genuinely had ZERO...NIL...SQUAT...ZIP...influence upon MY CHOICE.

Well...the way I see it is pretty simple.

C'est pas vrai.... Demerdez- vous...? Putain de merde... avoir une mauvaise journée!

My Dear Ol' Dad was in the Air Force. In the late '60s/early '70s we were stationed in Ankara (that base has since closed). Mom and Dad were both NAUI dive instructors, so every weekend we were at one beach or another. Dad also ran the dive club on base and every month they had a scheduled dive, usually in Izmir. After 2 years in Turkey we transferred to Heraklion, Crete in Greece and spent 2 years there. I was only 8 or 9 years old, but some of my fondest and most vivid memories growing up were from living overseas. I know what you mean about the food and hospitality.

As far as Turkey goes, sounds like the same thing is true there as it is here, in politics scum doesn't sink to the bottom where it belongs but rises to the top. Sounds like the people are great and just their top rulers are scum. Kind of like what happens here in the U.S.

Glad you made it back in one piece! Its weird to hear that you were treated very well but....weren't able to leave. I get it though, they have polices and such. Sounds like it would have been a cool adventure if not for the current and not being detained!

AWESOME story Greg...! That's a trip you will be talking about for a very long time... Back when I was in the military (late 70's), I had the privilege of being stationed in Greece. Our Comm. Station was located in the village of Nea Makri and I loved every single day of the two years I was there... I'm always talking to my wife about going back there on vacation... Maybe some day we will.

Great story, glad you're back and OK.
