Patreon suggests I remove the $1 tier - my thoughts
Added 2020-02-25 00:48:43 +0000 UTCI've always been pretty reluctant to ask our viewers for financial support. It's a lot to ask anyone to help fund something that SHOULD be funded by ad-revenue. But as you know, a lot has changed on Youtube and that revenue has been sliced and diced and we had to ask for a little help.
We have a lot of $1 supporters and honestly I am thankful someone can give just that amount - I don't expect anyone to give more than that so I am always humbled when someone CAN. I'd rather see more individuals giving just a buck than fewer people give more.
I think we'd lose a lot of the $1 donors if I were to force my hand and try to push people into higher tiers. It would appear I was greedy and I might even lose others who are all ready in the higher-tiers.
Your support has prevented the collapse of this channel.
It has taken the bite out of demonetized videos.
It has allowed me to snub the offers from VPN's, game apps, and other nonsense
sponsored content that everyone hates having to watch.
That is how I feel. What do you think? (not trying to get you to talk me out of this)

I support the guy above me on the 2,3,4 tiers but I would also like a $10 tier. Just sayin. Wink wink. Think of how many things you could buy that Greg could put his finger through for $10.

A much smarter suggestion is adding additional $2, $3, $4 tiers and not having a big jump straight from $1 to $5. There are a lot of folks who might be willing to give more than $1 but can't stretch all the way to $5 and either aren't aware that they can or unwilling to do the extra work to manually go in and adjust to give $2, $3, or $4 while in the $1 tier using the custom pledge functionality. I am glad to see that you on your own added a $3 mid-tier which is a good idea. I have been in the $1 tier for a long time but over the months have been able to give a little more and have used the custom pledge functionality to inch my way up as I was able to $2 and then $3 and am currently at $4 but was still in the $1 tier since when I first signed up there was no $3 mid-tier. Keep up the good work man, and when Patreon makes stupid braindead suggestions continue to respond accordingly !!!

Some younger, some fixed income, some who happen to be mid-career. Perhaps Patreon is correct in their analysis, but that doesn't mean it's the right call. So keeping the $1 level is a good move in my opinion.

Because my patreon bill is like 50 dollars a month already. Especially when i'm sending a chunk of that to Bovington tank museum. I just want Jeff to stop worrying about what youtube thinks and does and just make awesome content.
