Testing the Copperhead Fragmenting Slugs
Added 2020-02-28 02:10:58 +0000 UTCThe newest design by Tim Hamilton - the ballistic machinist. Made of copper and aluminum, I'm sure these will be pricey. I used FS12 gas seals and Tim believes using the stiffer x12x gas seals will solve several minor issues we encountered.

Awesome content, I'll buy these once perfected and for sale!. You had another video with steel slugs and lead bands, maybe the lead bands in place of the fragmenting o rings?

2020-02-29 07:29:36 +0000 UTCThe o-rings are just keeping the slug centered in the barrel without any metal to metal contact. I have some Russian steel slugs that we'll test soon that use lead rifling bands in a similar way the o-rings are being used on these.

2020-02-28 21:36:14 +0000 UTCThat was absolutely excellent. I was thinking about the o-rings as I watched. Could they be made out of copper or mild spring steel and still get a good seal? Automotive piston engines use metal compression rings (and I think the oil rings are also metal). Also the three gas seal rings on the AR-15 bolt are metal. So it's just a question of them being able to snap into place, form a good seal, and not tear up the inside of the barrel.
