Mini-Twister 12ga Round - The NASTIEST Mini-Shell
Added 2023-05-06 18:46:03 +0000 UTCThis is the fourth test using the Russian Twister slug. This time we use the shortest wad so we can keep the length of the shell to about 1.5 inches or 40mm. This is definitely the the powerful mini-shell out there.

Jeff - OK on all this - nice to know I have the whole span of 25 - 33 grains of LS to work with and with Blue Dot 30 - 40 grains and the extra heavy slugs need to stay lower than the top ends. Good shootin' to us... Steve

2023-05-11 02:20:55 +0000 UTCI think the FS12 did quite well - I used 2 3/4" hulls and they were still pretty short and would feed well in any pump. I believe I also used just 25 grains of LS in those too.

2023-05-07 17:56:20 +0000 UTCWithout the cushion on this wad, it seemed even 25 grains of LS was a bit to much. Some of the shells were sticking slightly in the chamber. These might do better with a few grains less and get the velocity a bit lower.

2023-05-07 04:52:10 +0000 UTCJeff - Thanks for giving us more information on the mini - shell concept. The Russians don't have many rifled shotgun barrels as the smoothbores are most prevalent. So the performance favoring the smooth makes sense. The best Russian slug for rifling seems to be the regular Paradox. That's all I use now for my shotgun slugs...doggone things shoot superbly with 33 grains of LongShot or same charge up to 40 grains of Blue Dot... the 40 grainers will loosen up the back teeth though on recoil from the bench. I'd recommend shooting those from the offhand shoulder position to roll with the recoil. From the bench, there's no roll, just smack. Nice nice video especially with the new shooters... I'm going to try the 25 grains of LS with the Paradox as the powder savings would be welcome... Steve
