WandaVision | Episode 6 | Full Reaction

This one hit me in such a weird, bittersweet way. Everything felt so playful and nostalgic on the surface, but underneath there was such an unsettling energy that I've definitely felt in previous episodes but not in this capacity. Watching Wanda try to keep things "normal" while Vision starts to actively push for answers, completely breaking her illusion, was intensely emotional. He is ready for the truth, and she's clinging onto her reality with every ounce of power she has left.

By the time Vision stepped out of the 'Hex' and starts falling apart, I felt this overwhelming sense of dread. Vision really is gone. Outside of Wanda's reality he does not exist. 'Nobody can truly bring back the dead'. It's clear that Wanda's world is collapsing around her, but she will do anything to keep the reality from breaking.

WandaVision | Episode 6 | Full Reaction

Comments

Vision seriously can't catch a break, can he? Marvel literally said, "let's make his existence pure pain" 😭 I totally feel you that this episode just stands out from the others in such a powerful way! Things are getting REAL I haven't seen Malcolm in the Middle, sadly. I feel a little out of the loop since WandaVision has been referencing all the classic sit-coms! But that's okay. You guys have been awesome at telling me which episode belongs to which sit-com and I've been loving googling it and realizing how much it matches up!

Despite the tragedy of this episode containing Vision's THIRD ON-SCREEN DEATH (have mercy, Marvel!) it's probably my favorite episode of WandaVision, because it also contains 2 of my favorite things: spooky Halloween themes, and homages to Malcolm in the Middle. The camcorder intro and the opening scene with the boy breaking the 4th wall to speak to the viewer are both direct references. For my money, that show is probably the best family sitcom ever made and it 100% holds up. The writing was so sharp and hilarious, not to mention you get to see Bryan Cranston's pre-Breaking Bad comedy chops. I doubt you'd ever react to it, Kali, but if you did, you'd spend the whole time laughing your ass off.
