I didn't expect a political episode to grip me the way this one did. And being very honest, I don't love politics. In real life and in fiction. The scheming, the power plays, the backdoor deals. It feels exhausting and cynical. But somehow, BSG made it feel so deeply human, and I respect it for that. They didn't just show us politics as a system; they showed it as people making impossible choices in an impossible situation.
Watching Roslin fully step into that game, not because she actually wants to but because she has to, had me admiring her a bit more. Her willingness to play smart and a little dirty to keep someone like Zarek out of power was unsettling, but also completely understandable. And Baltar as our new VP? I wish I could jump into the screen and yell at everyone to stop giving him so much power! He's like a charming grenade just rolling around on the floor.
Even though I don't love politics, I really appreciate the realness and storytelling in this series. It felt like a reflection of our own world. Messy, complicated, and full of people trying to do the right thing, or at least what they think is right.
Thank you for taking this journey with me. We are nearing the end of Season 1 already, which seems crazy to me! But I'm very excited for the final two episodes of this season next week!!
