Added 2021-07-27 00:01:56 +0000 UTCI have been reading this long VanShaw fanfic, where VanCleef is shown as an idealist, a man that live with aspirations, inspiration, wanting to create and make a world better, but pulled down abruptly to the mud by circumstances. "A man can't live of dreams". Thats what I think of VanCleef's case.
To pass hunger, to see that no matter his talent, he and his workers were obligated to keep their heads down, working as slaves without pay. Its a sad reality of now days for many minorities who lives in poverty.
Lately, I have been headcanonish too much about VanCleef and how he became one of the most influential and greatest villains of the Alliance. But before that, who was he? What was his relation with Shaw and Baros? How he learned and trained as Shaw's disciple? And how was that almost all his guild followed to this dark path?
He was indeed charismatic and well loved. But that love took him to the extremes and radicalism, but still, I feel I cannot blame him after all that I have experienced myself when I was a Manga/Anime teacher in a school for wealthy kids. Of course, I had the chances and opportunities to demand a fair treat, but there are many who still can't make their voices heard, specialy now for what its happening with Blizzard and the abuse of many workers, specially Women, PoC and LGBT+ persons.
