When I first started working on this in collaboration with my DM Harlen Eherenman, I read up on the Love Domain from Unearthed Arcana, which was poorly received (and for good reason, imo!) Thinking about the dark implications of manipulating feelings got me thinking about the different ways a Cleric could use or misuse abilities related to emotions. Thus, the Heartstring Domain was born: A domain that offers powers to connect or to control, depending on the wielder.
As someone who finds Clerics most interesting when they're a bit grey, I really enjoyed creating this class and imagining all the different types of characters who could play it. Hope you like it, too!

2022-03-01 16:19:48 +0000 UTCI really like the flavour of this subclass! Well done Harlen and Ginny. Only one thing I would add at my table would be to level 8. Clerics typically get an ability at that level that either bumps up their cantrips or melee weapon attack damage. I don't think it's too OP to have Love Scorned as is and add on Potent Specllasting (or Divine Strike) as well (as you won't always have someone Love Scorned).
