hi! not dead

I feel like I used to post a lot more general behind-the-scenes stuff, and lately I've been so overwhelmed that I've kind of stopped! I'm working on an edit for a video that took me more than two weeks to film (oof!) and just wanted to give you a little peek behind the curtain.

This is Adobe Premiere, where I edit all my video. What you see in the lower right here (the timeline) is a finished intro section, segueing into part one, which is partially edited (rough clips, titles, effects, but no music yet.)

I've recently started timing my work to get a better idea of how to schedule myself more realistically, and my current estimate for the average complete edit is 8-12 hours. I'm only about an hour and a half into this one, and I suspect it will be on the upper end of that bracket, mostly just because filming dialogue outdoors was ROUGH and for every clean, successful line, I probably have about 5 full minutes of unusable footage, and I have to sift through all that to find the good clips.

I'm not feeling great about my work right now, which is affecting how I'm viewing this one — I told Josh earlier "I scripted the intro under the assumption that my footage would look cool, but it's not really working because my footage looks stupid" 😅 But I'm sure I'll come around to it by the end!

Yes, I've heard editing of this kind can be very tricky, so no worries if it's taking longer than expected. I'm sure you'll finish with a video that's nice just like your others.
