Here's the second of the three new songs I'm releasing for the Rulebook Rock EP, coming in July! I won't be creating music videos for these, but they'll be distributed to streaming platforms.

Rulebook Rock is inspired by Schoolhouse Rock, an educational children's musical program from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. This particular song is based on Interplanet Janet.

Multiclassy Cassie, she’s a versatile girl
There isn’t a class she wouldn’t give a whirl
She’ll take a level anywhere that she feels keen
As long as that key attribute’s at least thirteen

When you level up in a brand new class, and their hit dice deviate
Six, eight, ten, or even twelve, if they’re different, keep them straight
Some of this, some of that — if they match up then that’s just great!

When it comes to casters, then we get in the weeds
But your classes share their spell slots for their casting needs
A Cleric at first level can cast Healing Word
With a different class’s higher slot, or so I’ve heard

That doesn’t mean you get the higher level spell set
Though Guiding Bolt at 4th level’s fun
You may be level ten, but remember, then again
Your Cleric level’s still only one.
But Warlocks… freakin’ Warlocks! Don’t mess with that, just turn and run! So watch out…

As for your proficiencies, you don’t get all the starting kind
There’s a chart of what you get, it’s not hard to find
Luckily your bonus is just based on your levels combined.

But don’t get too excited, class features cannot stack
You don’t just get extra extra attacks
The rules get pretty long
They don’t fit in just one song
So read your rulebooks if you’d like to be…
