Welcome to the best* (in my opinion) Doctor / Companion dynamic! 😊 You're missing a tiny bit of context, because Doctor Who is such a popular show in the UK (even moreso when this season aired) the new companions (and new Doctor) actors are known months in advanced. They're usually leaked, and then officially announced by the BBC. It's a bit like when Disney announce a Marvel casting. So like 99% of the audience going into this episode already knows that "Catherine Tate returns as Donna, the new companion", same for Billie Piper, same for Freema Agyeman. It's very fun watching non-UK reactors watch the show because you often have no idea who is gonna pop up, or if you do know you don't know the order or when it happens whereas all the UK watchers got spoiled by news media. Rose appearing was a huge twist though, nobody expected that!

2024-10-29 20:20:00 +0000 UTCOh yeah baby! This series is the one. You are gonna love it! Yes, it's a killer remix of the theme tune. Which obviously you failed to initially pick up on for Voyage of the Dammed crimbo special. Bernard Cribbins is Doctor Who royalty. He was in Voyage of the Dammed as well, if you remember, as the store holder when The Doctor beamed down, then up, leaving him aghast. But he was also in a Non Canon Doctor Who Film from the 60's as well. They tried to change too many important aspects in that experiment into feature films. Which makes the 2 that were produced non canon depictions. Iconic actor Peter Cushing played Doctor Who for them. This series has the added bonus of the fact that a significant amount the episodes match in frame rates to what's on Max. So more people have the option to watchalong across multiple platforms too. Share this info for those that aren't aware. Most will sync up I think. Just from memory, episode 4 is still an issue I think. I think all others are fine, if I'm recalling correctly.
