today we are starting xmen '97!! this is my edited reaction to season 1 episode 1 "to me, my x-men"
i didn't realize until i really started this that i've never seen something quite like this before. it was so cool, and off to a really interesting start! i'm excited to see where this season goes!

I thought Morph was based on an existing extremely minor character called Changeling but had to use the name Morph because Beast Boy from Teen Titans was called Changeling at the time.

That intro and theme song felt like a time machine back to the 90s. So, it is interesting to see someone react to it without those childhood associations. The costumes are very comic accurate, so yes that how Rogue looks and acts in the comics. In regards to whether you have seen the other characters, yes, Bishop was in Days of Future Past (which i think you eventually remembered.) Jubilee was in X-Men 3 briefly but it was more an easter egg for people who would recognize her. If you did not already know her, you would not have noticed. Gambit (Remy) is a major comics character and was in X-Men Origins Wolverine, but it is not worth watching that movie to see him. Channing Tatum really wanted to make a Gambit standalone movie but it never got made. Finally, Morph is a new character specific to this show, so you are just fine not knowing him.
