Ereviim Sketches (Life Update)

Exploring Ereviim a bit more! I let myself sit on Sunday and try to really get my hands dirty with his design. So far I'm really happy with the feeling I get when I draw him, which is what I've been so focused on getting right. I think I'm super close to what his final shape will be; something extremely and immediately, but not completely, animal. Just enough in his face and eyes to make you wonder.

Ereviim is most comfortable hunched over like a stereotypical were-creature, or on all fours. He is capable of standing tall when he wants to, although I'm not sure how comfortable this would be, or if he could really walk in such a pose. 

His head and upper back have the same scales (the pins are placeholders, in the full-body sketches). They're tough but flexible, and constantly growing, until they're worn down, or possibly shed off. I'm still not 100% sure about how they attach to the top of his head, though! 

About work

As of today, I've gone back to using a public queue, so people can see what I'm up to in kinda-sorta real time. SpottyJaguar's Queue on Trello! - NSFW

Before now, my queue was built on a Google Spreadsheet, but it's sorely lacking for my needs. Trello should be much, much easier for me to use, share, and keep up to date.  

I am also changing how I approach my current workload, as well as commissions that I take. Last year, I tried to take several smaller commissions, with the intent to finish them quickly in between larger ones, but this didn't really pan out, so I'm going to adapt.  Rather than jumping rapidly between old and new, I'm going from oldest to newest, working on just a couple things at a time, and moving to the next when I have one of those completed. I've rearranged my queue to reflect this, including spreading a huge amount of sketches out so that I don't get burned out working on one type of image for a long time. 

As a result, some people will be waiting a bit more, and some a bit less, but I feel like this is the best approach I can take, given the size of my workload. It'll be more realistic for me, and more reliable for everyone else.

I'll be emailing people individually about this change as I can, and as soon as I can.

I'm feeling much better after getting that last post out of my system. A few people left comments on it, and a few more reached out to me directly to with me well, or thank me for opening up. I super appreciate that, all of you ♥ I'm really flattered. 

Yesterday and today I sat down to really think about what I can do to improve my situation. A thousand thanks to AJ, and Skott, for taking so much time out of their day to help me problem-solve. I have a feeling i'm gonna be thanking them a lot for the next little while, haha!
